While the views are absolutely breathtaking, the staff on the platform were awful. It's true that you are very much rushed through, like cattle being herded. As well, a friend who suffers anxiety informed the staff that she had this condition. She was reassured she'd be taken care of by a particular staff member on the platform who would ensure that she wasn't rushed and didn't feel pressured to jump immediately. She had an entirely different staff member who got very irritated when she said she needed a minute to breathe before attempting to jump. They told her that she needed to hurry up; it seemed none of the staff members were even aware that she had an anxiety problem, despite the fact that the waiver emphasizes the importance of alerting the staff to any existing medical conditions.

The advertising is also misleading. I went to The Ledge Bungy because they offer a freestyle harness, meaning you can jump several different ways. They even advertise their "jump menu" on YouTube and their website. As a gymnast, I was very excited that doing a handstand off the ledge was an option! When I told the staff on the platform I wanted to do a handstand, he said, "Sorry, I'm not doing that," offering no explanation whatsoever. Had there been a safety concern I would have understood, but I wasn't given an explanation at all, even when I continued to question why I wasn't allowed. I told the staff member that I didn't want to run and jump off of the ledge, and that the reason I had come to this bungee site was to be able to do a handstand off the ledge. He told me he wouldn't do it and that I could either run and jump off the ledge or not jump at all. Had I known the staff would have been so blatant and rude, I would have chosen to jump at another site.

If you're even slightly scared of jumping, don't bother with this bungee site. The staff will not reassure you, they'll simply become irritated at any hesitation and attempt to rush you. Also, you can cross "handstand" off their "jump menu," it seems the staff will simply refuse to do it with no explanation at all.

Video quality is also poor. They're nothing like the videos used to advertise their services. Not worth purchasing, somebody standing at the viewing platform with an iPhone camera can get a...

Taking the Plunge: A First-Timer's Review of the Nevis Bungy Jump

The Nevis Bungy, located in Queenstown, New Zealand, is the biggest bungy jump in the Southern Hemisphere, beckoning adrenaline junkies from all corners of the globe. Standing at a staggering 134 meters (440 feet), it promises an exhilarating freefall experience that's sure to leave you breathless. And as a first-time bungy jumper, I can confidently say it lived up to the hype!

From the moment I arrived at the Nevis Bungy headquarters, the professional and friendly staff put me at ease. They provided thorough safety instructions and ensured all equipment was properly fitted. The scenic drive up to the jump site only added to the anticipation, with breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains and the rushing Nevis River below.

Once at the top, my heart was pounding as I stood on the platform, peering over the edge. The thought of launching myself into the abyss was both terrifying and exhilarating. But the encouragement of the guides and the stunning vista helped me take the leap of faith.

The freefall was an indescribable rush of adrenaline. The wind whipped through my beard as plummeted downwards, the world rushing past in a blur. For those 8.5 seconds, it felt like I was flying, completely weightless and free.

The rebound was almost as thrilling, as the bungy cord gently pulled me back up. As I swung back and forth, taking in the breathtaking scenery, I couldn't help but laugh with pure joy. The feeling of accomplishment and exhilaration was overwhelming.

The entire experience was incredibly well-organized and professionally conducted. The staff were knowledgeable, supportive, and most importantly, made safety their top priority. They even captured photos and videos of my jump, which I'll treasure forever.

If you're looking for an adrenaline rush and a truly unforgettable experience, I highly recommend the Nevis Bungy. Whether you're a seasoned daredevil or a first-timer like me, it's an adventure that's guaranteed to leave you speechless. Just remember to take a deep breath, trust the experts, and...

If you’ve got the balls for Bungy, why not do it at its birth place in NZ. The Queenstown Nevis Bungy is 134m and is the highest in NZ (not the world - that’s 260+ and in China).

The process was well organised and I always felt safe. The staff were excellent and in control - they were also very supportive of a couple of people in our group who were nervous. No pressure applied if someone didn’t want to jump, but gave them time to Manage their nerves. Great attitude.

The jump itself was awesome. You launch from a platform suspended between two peaks, and you access the platform via a cradle that moves along the cables. All felt safe and well managed. The harness and rigging were all sturdy and in a good state of repair, and the safety checks made to confirm that they have the right rigging for the right person were repeated several times.

The actual jump felt like it moved at pace. Once you’re connected to everything and they invite you forwards to the launch plate, you look at a camera for the obligatory photo and the guy supporting said, “Right, we go on five, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1, go…” no prevarication so I didn’t really have a chance to rethink the decision. It felt disorientating on the way down as there weren’t really any points of reference and I did come back up with a headache from hanging upside down for a short while (you are able to release the cable attachment to your feet so can end up sitting).

The only downside is the time it all takes. They say that there’s a 25 minute bus ride to the jump site. This was actually 55 minutes due to road works and slightly less on the way back. We checked-in at 11:30, left on the bus at 12:05 and didn’t get back until 15:00. Whilst this isn’t a deal breaker, make sure you have time and that your parking ticket covers the potential time span.

This was my second and highest jump - I would recommend giving it a go. A J Hackett is a well run, professional operation and I’d have faith that you were in good...

Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhh! Thats all 😭 Absolutely terrifying but absolutely brilliant and sooo freaking pumped after I did the k bridge bungee yesterday with my friend who I couldn’t have done it without. The people on the bridge and in the shop really helped calm my nerves especially walking up on the bridge taking my weight I was sooooo nervous. Then the lovely dear lady who’s name escapes me who I gave a hug after, told me what I will feel, how I will fall, and the rush of excitement and joy I’d feel after, then she said to get behind the rail and take a seat. Another commitment, was visibly shaking when I sat down to get my ankle straps and the guides helped so much letting me know how to make myself do it etc, they calmed me down, hooked me up, got me to the edge and said don’t look down just keep your eyes up or else it will look twice as high, he kept me on the edge, said take deep breaths, you’re scared now but you have to just tell yourself you’re gonna do it on 5, 4, 3, 2, 1, and you’re gonna go on one. I let go of the bridge, looked at both cameras, kept my arms out breathed deep, closed my eyes, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1. I went….. And my god that drop wasn’t what I expected at all. Something that can’t be explained. It’s not like a rollercoaster at all I promise you you will not feel a horrible in your stomach butterfly feeling. You feel nothing then after 4 seconds you feel the pull of the bungee and I opened my eyes then to a whoosh of verbal tyrants of positivity and self love and pride. I tell you right now it’s one of the coolest feelings to know you’re done something so scary.. will know what to feel next time and it will be just as terrifying. Thank you so much to everyone involved who helped my experience and calmed me down and made me jump. PS the guide counted me down on the drop of the beat. No wonder I jumped.
