Hey brave! Nice to see you here! ||||As a victim, I sincerely summarized a few pieces of advice bf u come to this “Glenorchy Top10 Hotel” (emmmm apparently this town does not even have 10 hotels):||||1. only very thin man can survive in the "room"!|| - You can choose to jump or fly onto your tiny tiny “bed” as there is no aisle for a normal size man to walk in.|| - No standing space at all after you opened your 24inch suitcase! ||||2. pls imagine yourself as a polar bear, or u will never feel "Warm"!|| - Not have any heating equipment under -5℃ temperature: No air-condition! No radiators!! No electric blankets!!!||||3. Never give them your credit card CVC, or never check the credit card bills if you have heart disease!!|||| Without any notification, the “autocrat” of this place (whose name is Tim) will just swipe your credit card depends on his mood of that day (or maybe it's just his lucky number on that day?)|||| - extra charge of NZ$65 because we used the dirty blanket on that 3rd bed in the room to prevent us from freezing and visting my grandgrandpa early (the whole room cost NZ$130 only)|||| - extra charge of NZ$1.3 as he said we took away the tea bag in the room (sorry to take away his priceless ancestral treasure as we thought the tea bag is for drink)||||Lastly, if u ready book the room before seeing my post … congradulations! Definitely it will leave an unforgettable night on your Glenorchy or even NZ trip, and cannot wait to see ur...

Hey brave! Nice to see you here!

As a victim, I sincerely summarized a few pieces of advice bf u come to this “Glenorchy Top10 Hotel” (emmmm apparently this town does not even have 10 hotels):

only very thin man can survive in the "room"!

  • You can choose to jump or fly onto your tiny tiny “bed” as there is no aisle for a normal size man to walk in.
  • No standing space at all after you opened your 24inch suitcase!

pls imagine yourself as a polar bear, or u will never feel "Warm"!

  • Not have any heating equipment under -5℃ temperature: No air-condition! No radiators!! No electric blankets!!!

Never give them your credit card CVC, or never check the credit card bills if you have heart disease!!

Without any notification, the “autocrat” of this place (whose name is Tim) will just swipe your credit card depends on his mood of that day (or maybe it's just his lucky number on that day?)

  • extra charge of NZ$65 because we used the dirty blanket on that 3rd bed in the room to prevent us from freezing and visting my grandgrandpa early (the whole room cost NZ$130 only)

  • extra charge of NZ$1.3 as he said we took away the tea bag in the room (sorry to take away his priceless ancestral treasure as we thought the tea bag is for drink)

Lastly, if u ready book the room before seeing my post … congradulations! Definitely it will leave an unforgettable night on your Glenorchy or even NZ trip, and cannot wait to see ur...

Staff are really nice, helpful and friendly, facilities are basic, but really nice and clean. One thing which left a bad taste in my mouth is that the backpackers is meant to have kitchen facilities, it used to, but it's bring renovated. They can't be accessed currently but no discount is given to the rate, and when we asked for some basic things so we could make the food we'd bought, relying on a kitchen (just boiling water and a bowl) we weren't allowed crockery and were even charged for the take away coffee cup we were given, despite these very basic asks only being as a result of the missing kettle/kitchen facilities. The staff member was very friendly and gave us boiling water, but apparently they had to charge for a take away cup (even though we were ordering things from their cafe, including coffee) and couldn't give us one of the many bowls,. I would never expect this except for the kitchen debacle. So yes, until renovations are done, don't expect even basic kitchen facilities such as a cup and water etc and take this into account if you're coming off one of the hiking trails :) hopefully renovations will be done soon or the manager will change those ridiculous restrictions, because otherwise the...

Called in for a beer . After finishingour beer . Found out you could stay overnight in our motorhome , providing you take advantage of there hospitality. After booking dinner for 6pm, we went back to the motorhome. Around 6 we sat down for a platter for 2 of pork ribs & chicken wings, coleslaw and wedges , Washed down with a wine. Needless to say we asked for a doggy bag . Incredible meal . And DOG friendly must be on a leash.

Daily Roast Beef tasted like Monthly Roast Rubber, drenched in gravy. Mash and seafood chowder were overly salted. Ironically, the Fish & Chips was underseasoned. Other mains such as the vegetarian breakfast and buffalo wings were decent. The roast vegetables that came with my roast were great and the only thing on the plate I could finish. But otherwise it couldn't save this lunch.
