There was a muckup with the booking I had made on booking.com. The room I had booked was advertised as having a Queen, and two single beds in a 1 bedroom unit which suited us brilliantly. Checked In, paid and was pointed to my room by a very friendly receptionist. On arrival, there was only a queen bed, and a single. Not going to work for this group of 3 cousins. Returned to reception and was told that they have never offered 1 bedroom apartments with 3 beds in it. All very well, but would have been nice if Booking.com noted that. Did some juggling and ended up paying a extra $35 to upgrade to a 2 bedroom villa. The villa was located further up the hill away from the complex. Stunning views out over the Hanmer Basin. Villa looked quaint and lovely from the outside. Large carport to park directly outside the unit. Horror when we opened the door and found nothing had been touched since 1970. It was truly ghastly. Villa was freezing cold and it took the Heatpump an age to warm the place up. Shower had hair all through it which was not pleasant. Beds and bedding were pretty average and we were quite glad to leave there in the morning.

Overall it wasn't a great stay, and things may need to be addressed with booking.com. $205.00 is extremely expensive for what we ended up with, even for Hanmer which is notoriously expensive. However the absolutely fantastic receptionist and the great views redeemed Greenacres for me slightly. If they spent a bit of money and upgraded the place, it would be a great place to spend a night,...

DECEITFUL THIEVES. BEWARE anything you accidentally leave they will keep or "throw away". Have seen other reviews mentioning this and it happened to us too. We accidentally left a valuable and sentimental item and called the same day we left, mere hours and they said they "threw it away". They did not even attempt to contact us at all. We begged and pleaded with them to get it out for us as it is so important (and in no way could be confused for rubbish) and they said the rubbish had already been collected. When we pointed out that was a lie and that rubbish day was not for another 4 days they changed their lie and said they dropped it off at Hanmer refuse station already. When again we pointed out that must be a lie too because the refuse station was not open that day they changed the lie again and said that it was in their rubbish pile on site and we had to get there immediately to get it which was impossible as we had driven too far and could not get there in time. I have seen it on previous reviews so I have made an official police report. If this happens to you and you see this review please know you are not alone and my police report may help you in the future. Their customer service has been appalling right from the start well before the incident, they have no interest in treating guests well. They are far from environmentally friendly like they claim (who would throw away people's belongings rather than return them? Opposite of environmentally conscious). Place was old, dirty and door handles fell off...

DO NOT STAY HERE THIS PLACE IS A DUMP AND A WASTE OF $160!! The only good thing about it was the view from the kitchen window.. Im not sure where to start with what was wrong.... the heater was so noisy and rattly. The place was that cold we had no choice but to have it rattling 24/7 and it did a piss poor job. the shower dribbled out of the shower head .. terrible pressure. Previous persons hair stuck to the shower wall. we found some rank hair in 3 of the coffee cups that were provided along with heaps of animal hair and other random hair all over the duvet cover. Im pretty sure the yuck brown duvets havent been washed for 3 years. Atleast the sheets were clean the walls were stained and an off yellow colour. The carpets really stained too along with the arm chair and couch. Old, stained and really uncomfortable. the bed was straight from the 1800's. Very uncomfortable we had a shocking sleep and couldnt wait to leave there in the morning. there was no one at reception at checkout meaning we couldnt complain or try get a partial refund for the disgustingness that they call a chalet.

Really pissed off we were looking forward to a relaxing night away but once we arrived we had instant regrets.Stay away from this place. Your better off staying at the camping ground for a fraction of the price. Total rip off. We wont be coming back or recommending it to anyone.

Completely run down...

What a hidden gem!!! It wasn't on the guide map but was recommended by the Thermal Pools staff. Turns out it's the original motel in Hanmer Springs and Edwin & Gilbert are doing it right! Take a look at what their Environmental Care Statement says (pic 1)... these guys are all about preserving Hanmer Springs and the two high country reserves, St.James and Molesworth stations and it shows in everything they do and say! They have the best views from the cabins, have a couple of very friendly cats keeping watch, a private spa pool available and even a continental breakfast if you're wanting! 1πŸ˜πŸ˜‡πŸ‘πŸ€˜πŸ™

Great place to take the family for a few days, really enjoyed the chalet, it was tidy, clean and spacious and had a great view of the mountains (picture out of bedroom window in the morning attached) the heating was good (heat pump) parking was ample. The manager was lovely, friendly and helpful, he pointed us in the right direction in town for food. I see there are some bad reviews of this place, but I'd give this place a chance, we thought it was well worth it.
