Had an absolutely beautiful dinner here with my partner, starting off with a beyond warm welcome and service that stayed consistently polite and professional throughout the entire night. The mussel pot as an entree was one of the best mussel dishes we have had in NZ, and generously portioned, with fantastic flavours. We almost got full from the entree alone. As a main we both went for venison which is served on a sizzle plate, and a choice of sides that were cooked to perfection. The venison was delicious, and a treat to be able to cook it exactly how you like it on the sizzle plate provided. Looking on their specials board, I was overall impressed with the amount of deals they offer throughout the week and the reasonable prices for everything offered. Another thing worth noting is how well done the cocktails were! The bartender was friendly and served up some lovely concoctions! If you go on a certain hour on Saturdays (I believe 7pm-8pm) then you get a great 2 for 1 deal. I will never complain about that! We will come back. 10/10.

tl;dr - An awesome place - great food, an amazing atmosphere, and you can actually get food here after the springs close. Saints wasn't in our plans when we went to Hanmer for two nights, but it'll be in our plans next time we're up. We tried to have dinner elsewhere before trying Saints, but our destination (which claimed to be open late) had its doors shut by 8. Saints, on the other hand, welcomed us with a warm atmosphere and some really great food. The next night, we tried our previous destination again but had no luck, and even tried to make a reservation at another restaurant and were accused of lying about it. What a weird experience! So back off to Saints we went, and they should have been our first choice both nights! Again: a warm atmosphere and awesome food. The fantastic staff remembered us and called us "regulars," they made us feel truly welcome. Thanks, Saints! See you next time.

Unapologetically Unhygienic Dirty and Uncleaned environment. Poor customer service. I ordered a bowl of fries with aioli, and sweet chilli with a large flat white which for starters costed me $24. (I assume they charged $2 each for the sauce). The tables were pathetically uncleaned, and even though the server (man) was coming constantly at the table behind us to apologise about their late order again & again, did not bother cleaning the table we were sitting and eating on. We spent almost an hour there, and i was very hungry, however looking how unclean the place was, i think my hunger went on a strike. Most of the tables were uncleaned, no one asked for water and just that unbothered attitude put me off. Never returning back, rather sleep hungry than visiting this dirty place. DON’T WASTE YOUR MONEY HERE.

The service is good, the food was alright. I had the ribs and they weren't amazing but they were still nice. My brother had a stonegrill meal and it wasn't good because this was served at exactly the same time as me and my parents food. So his raw pork, took forever to cook and by the time he could start eating, the rest of us were almost done with our food.

With the stonegrill meal, I think it would be better to serve this out before anyone else's food, so everyone can eat at the same time. Or at least have the kitchen cook the pork a little so it isn't completely raw.

The environment here was quite awful, the restaurant was quite dark. I get that it is more a bar than anything but lighten it up a little. Especially in the booth seats. Also during the time my family and I were here trying to enjoy the new year, there was a big family outing who had many kids who would scream. Run around, screaming at their highest pitch. Which was awful and typically they would do this for fun because it made the parents laugh or to get something they wanted which the parents gave them. Which was just awful. No waitress can go up to them and ask them to be quiet because it's not their place and would possibly come off rude but the manager could go up to one of the parents and ask nicely.

Saints Cafe is really only good for a quick drink and quick bite to eat before continuing on the road...

If you're looking for a fantastic dining experience in Hanmer Springs, look no further than Saints Cafe. From the moment you walk in, you'll be greeted by the friendly and approachable staff who go out of their way to make your experience unforgettable.

One of the highlights of the menu is "The Challenge," a dish that lets you cook your steak to your exact liking on a hot food grade piece of granite. It's a unique and exciting experience that truly sets this restaurant apart from the rest.

But it's not just The Challenge that makes Saints Cafe so amazing. The food overall is absolutely fantastic, with every dish bursting with flavor and made with the freshest ingredients. Whether you're in the mood for steak, seafood, or vegetarian options, there's something for everyone on the menu.

And let's not forget the atmosphere - it's warm, welcoming, and perfect for a relaxing night out with friends or family. Whether you're visiting Hanmer Springs for the first time or you're a local looking for a new favorite restaurant, Saints Cafe is the place to be.

Overall, I highly recommend Saints Cafe to anyone looking for a top-notch dining experience. The food, atmosphere, and staff are all exceptional, and you're sure to leave feeling satisfied and eager to return for another...

Over priced and very very average pub food. Very lazy all round deliver of a hospitality offering by the owners, they need to step back up to the plate and re think why they started the place. Had the mussel pot with teeny tiny mussels and what tasted like sugar and cheese sauce. Its the little things with a 100watt light bulb burning down on us at our booth table looking across the road at New World wishing they had just walked across the road to grab a 40watt eye saver. Partner is celiac and most of the menu shows GF how ever it is not and needs to be reworked and redesigned (she ended up very sick from eating the "Gluten free" chicken skewers that must have had soy in the satay sauce) . At least our waitress was polite, honest and apologetic to all the food saying GF that wasn't. I'm not going to review the food but it was bland without any unique flair for a price which would indicate local fresh ingredients. How ever trust me its not. I have no idea how this place is as busy as it is during holiday seasons. Plus you get to enjoy a bathroom with a floor of puke. Seems the owners are very hands off and just rely on this...
