My adult daughters and I had the opportunity to stay at Ropatinis recently. On arrival a plate was lovely fruit cake was delivered to our unit. ||We were in one unit which was roomy and very well appointed. The wooden furniture, made from local timber by Trish’s husband was very unique and suited the environment. The room was spotless. The beds were very comfortable with electric blankets on all 3 beds. ||Waking up hearing the lambs over the fence and eggs for breakfast being laid would be an experience so many people would never have the chance to experience. ||||Breakfast was on another level. Not the ordinary continental! Of course fresh farm eggs! Wild meat cold meats. Home made bread. ||Trish joined us and an American family for breakfast and everyone enjoyed sharing travel stories and listening to suggestions from Trisha for local sights etc. After breakfast Teddy, the wee wonder dog, gave a lovely show of tricks for the American children. ||It was just a lovely time and a very homely experience. ||If you like a stay with a bit of that rustic rural feel then Ropatinis is tops. ||Thank you Trish. A delightful hostess with a...
Read moreWhile planning our trip and subsequently looking for a nice accommodation on the west coast of the South Island, we came across this beautiful accommodation by chance. Trish and Collin are simply the best hosts we met during our New Zealand tour. The accommodation was clean and in a very quiet location. It is also an unbeatable starting point for the numerous activities in the Fox Glacier area. From our hosts Trish & Collin we received well-founded and very helpful tips for our activities, enjoyed an extraordinarily delicious breakfast with always freshly prepared fruit, drinks, very good coffee, even delicious farm-eggs prepared on request/any style. As if that wasn't enough to keep us happy, we enjoyed probably the best panoramic view of the nearby mountains from the breakfast table. We were also allowed to admire Teddy's (dog) art pieces. All in all, it was an unforgettably beautiful stay (unfortunately too short with only 2 nights). Therefore, we can unreservedly recommend this accommodation and its hosts! Many thanks again to...
Read moreA must to stay in this place. We did not want to go to a hotel nor a motel but wanted something simple, personal & homely and thats exactly what Patricia and Colin provided. Home made bread, butter, marmalades, etc; and the warmth and hospitality provided was way above our expectations. ||The host and hostess- Colin and Patriciac were amazing. They made us feel at ease with their home cooked brekkie, their smiles and good humour as well as pointers for the day ahead.|Teddy their dog was fantastic too. We learnt that Colin was not just a handsome man but had extraordinary skills as a Mr Fix it, carpentry( beautifully hand crafted tables and benches), a basket weaver, welder etc; i could go on) , whilst Esther quietly went about her business ensuring all was in order.|Thank you both for making us feel at...
