Pizza Hut Kaitaia — Restaurant in Te Hiku Community

What fabulous staff we encountered. So friendly and helpful, which surprises me considering the level of embarrassment they deal with on a daily basis due to the bare display boards and marketing photos that ANY other Pizza Hut in the country has on its walls and counter. Nope - not the Kaitaia Puzza Hut. Why not? I've not lived here long but have noticed that neglect nestles in this town much like a resident squatter. Why should geography influence the way a business is run or what level of professionalism customers can expect. Raise the bar all you franchisees and storeowners. Take pride in Kaitaia, you locals. Give the main street a unique theme. Create shop-front facades, each store with its own. Adorn the streets in carvings and make it a tourist destination worth coming to visit & photograph. This was the most appalling managed Pizza Hut franchise. I ordered pre paid pickup and drove from out of town. Although my pizzas where ready a couple of minutes after I arrived, the garlic bread X2 had not been done. I was asked to wait and it would shortly be ready. Twenty minutes!!! later I was told they had only done one bread and would I like to wait for the other. I said no as my pizzas had been sitting in the warmer. They offered to redo my whole order; so much for fast food. I declined their offer. During my initial wait it was obvious that the skills of the management were very much sub standard. The pizzas were of average standard but the gf pizza was poor; the outer edge of the crust had become inedible with the cheese being a least an inch in from the edge. Overall a horrible experience with me be being very angry but restrained. Shame on...

Awful experience. Ordered in store to be told it’s a 20-25 minute wait which was fine but after 30 minutes we asked where our order was, and they said another 20 minutes, after that had passed, we then asked again how long.. they said another 10 minutes!! 15 minutes later we finally got our pizzas but they had forgotten to make one so gave us one that had been sitting in the heater which was completely different to what we ordered and the guy said “it’ll be pretty crusty because it’s been sat in the oven for a long while”. So we asked for another complimentary pizza/garlic bread or something since we’d waited so long and they all huffed and puffed and finally chucked another pizza from the oven at us with no apologies.
