This is a wonderful lodge with a casual, relaxed feel.
Your stay will begin by being collected at the Waiheke Ferry Terminal and then you whisked away the short distance to begin your experience.
Pip, Andy and Maureen are delightful hosts. Each morning a different breakfast menu is offered. Pip cooks while you sit and enjoy your coffee, read the newspaper and chat to other guests. If you prefer a more secluded breakfast then there are spaces to eat without the company of other guests.
The rooms are spacious and very clean though not appointed with standard things like a shower cap, cotton balls or cotton buds. As a seasoned traveller I always pack my own but I expected that these items should be in the room especially a shower cap! Shampoo, conditioner, shower gel and body lotion are provided but I am not a fan of refillable pumps for hygiene reasons but understand from an environmental point of view.
A pet peeve is no magnifying mirror in the bathroom. This is certainly not unique to here though.
The bed was comfortable though the pillows were a little flat for our liking.
The room was very hot without AC and we did not open our window at night because of mosquitos.
Overall we had a wonderful stay and I would recommend Waiheke Waterfront Lodge though for me it misses the extra rating point because of the small touches that you would expect for this...
Read moreThis is my first trip to New Zealand and I fear I may have peaked too soon with my stay at The Waterfront Lodge Waiheke. The location and beauty of the lodge is hard to beat and is perfect for a little R and R after a long flight into Auckland. We found our room spotless, with a gorgeous welcome pack of local goodies not to mention the view! The bed was huge and unbelievably comfortable. Undoubtedly however, the best thing about this place is the people that run it; our welcome was so friendly it genuinely felt like visiting family. Pip and Maureen had recommendations for every taste and activity as well loaning us the lodge car so that we could explore the island. Our only regret was not staying longer! Breakfast was fresh (lettuce picked that morning from the garden), homemade and delicious! There were electric bikes to use for exploring and a spa pool for relaxing in.We could easily have spent a week here resting and adventuring around the islands many walks and wineries. Thank you for having us! I couldn’t recommend this place...
