Feel like I’m being super generous by giving 2 stars - 1 for charlottes(sorry if I got it wrong!) and 1 more for that lovely barista which used to always work with charlotte!
I don’t know what has happened since, croissants became inconsistent, they were once highly raved about for their goeey centre, but has since ceased to exist?
Also today, 28.04.22, me and my partner decided to go to (what was previously my coffee spot) for some coffee and croissant, place was empty except for one table of three. We stood at the counter looking at the menus and cabinet food, deciding what to eat, all whilst the manager and 2 other staff just stood in the kitchen chatting away, refusing to greet us whatsoever. All except for one we stood there for what felt like 10 mins, one of the chefs finally said a half hearted hi, before resuming to wandering around the kitchen.
What disgusts me is that being in hospo, even if you were up to your neck with work, the bare minimum you could have done is to greet a customer and say something along the lines of “be with you in a minute” , but the fact that 2 staff and 1 (presumably manager) stood there, refused to greet us and stood in the kitchen talking among themselves, was absolutely shocking.
Even after deciding to walk away because no service was rendered, you could see they didn’t even budge from their positions, as if we were never there, no form of service recovery.
I’m terribly sad to have to resort to leaving this review but I feel like potential customers wanting to visit must be warned of the horrid experience you may potentially be treated...
Read moreA group of us went to Akito for breakfeast today.
The service was extremely slow, and as there was only one other patron there at the time, I cannot understand why there was such a delay for our meal service.
The main complaint for all of us regarding our meals, related to the toasted grain bread, it was so hard and tough, that it was impossible to cut it, therefore most of us just left it on our plates.
We mentioned this at the time to the serving staff, and he said that he would mention it to the chef.
As a note, we noticed after we returned from a coffee up the road, other patrons had also just left their toasted bread. Because it was just not possible to cut.
My meal of creamy mushrooms was okay, other than the fact that I have to ask why some of these chefs have a penchant or habit to overdo the seasoning of their meals with herbs, because all I could taste was herbs of carraway seeds.
This is just not needed, when you ask for mushrooms, that is what you want to taste and enjoy.
There is one other comment, according to one of our friends, this café used to be an organic type outlet, and they used olive oil for their cooking, this has now been changed to cheaper vegetable oils like Canola or the like, price I guess.
Must make the comment though, the meals here are not classified as inexpensive anyway!!
Yes, I recognise that it is Waiheke, and expect to pay for the previlege.
We will definitely not return to this outlet, also based on my experience today at Akito, I cannot...
Read moreWe had breakfast this morning at Akitō Eatery and were pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food. The dishes were simple yet crafted with exceptional care and flavour – truly delicious.
I ordered fried eggs on toast with grilled halloumi, and it was absolutely perfect: fresh, well-balanced, and cooked to perfection. My partner had the avocado salad with halloumi, which was just as impressive.
What really stood out, though, was the outstanding customer service. The staff went above and beyond to make us feel welcome and comfortable, especially considering we had just arrived from the ferry with luggages, a stroller, and our 3-month-old baby.
Their kindness and attention to detail made a real difference to our experience. We couldn’t have asked for a better start to our day on Waiheke Island. Highly...
