This was a terrible room - 604.

But, first of all, the service from staff and the breakfast were excellent - everyone was lovely. . The receptionist was very helpful in providing a fan and extra pillows. So none of my comments concern the service or the people. Also, the location is great.

I have only seen room 604 in this hotel so I don’t know if other standard rooms are better, but this one is very flawed.

The most serious issue is that there is a diagonal beam from floor to ceiling at the end of the bed. Walking around to the far side of the bed involves avoiding hitting your head and shoulder on the beam. Fine so far. But just above the beam the wall - in the same colour as the beam - juts out and is very difficult to see in the dimly lit room. I have a large bruise as a result.

Also, above the pillow on the far side of the bed are two other extrusions which I also made contact with when getting out of bed.

Lighting - no way near enough. Terrible.

No aircon - OK, this is on me. They don’t claim to have it and o booked the room. But it turns out that you do sometimes do need aircon in Norway.

There are no power outlets or reading light on the far side of the bed.

Curtains let in way too much light. Not good in the Norwegian summer and unforgivable on its own.

Bathroom - the only place to hang towels is pretty much under the shower. There are acres of wall and door space for hooks and something closer to the wash basin is essential and would not compromise the accessibility of the room.

Bathroom - it’s an accessible wet room which is good. But the floor tiles are very slippery when wet. Not acceptable for this type of bathroom.

And right now - July 2024 - significant building work is occurring next door and behind the hotel, the noise started at 07:45.

So I would have to say that I would definitely not choose this...

I had the pleasure of staying at your hotel over the Christmas period in 2023 and wanted to share some feedback about my experience.

Firstly, I thoroughly appreciated the tranquil atmosphere during my stay, especially given the absence of nearby club gatherings, allowing for a peaceful night's rest. The hotel's central location within downtown was incredibly convenient, offering easy access to various amenities and attractions. Moreover, I must commend your staff for their exceptional friendliness and attentiveness throughout my visit, which significantly enhanced my overall stay.

One highlight of my stay was undoubtedly the fantastic breakfast offerings. The variety and quality exceeded expectations, providing a delightful start to each day.

However, I would like to bring to your attention a minor inconvenience encountered during my stay—the absence of a kettle in the room. As an avid tea enthusiast, it would have been more convenient to have this amenity available in the room rather than having to visit the downstairs area each time I wished to prepare tea.

I believe the addition of a kettle in the room would further elevate the guest experience, offering added convenience and comfort, especially during leisurely moments within the room.

Despite this minor suggestion, I thoroughly enjoyed my stay and commend your team for maintaining such a pleasant environment. I hope this feedback proves helpful, and I look forward to the possibility of returning...

The hotel is in an excellent location—within easy walking distance of the main attractions and the train station. Breakfast was decent. The receptionist was very kind and genuinely helpful, though clearly overwhelmed by a wave of guests arriving at the same time as us.||Unfortunately, the automated check-in system didn’t recognize my reservation, resulting in a half-hour queue around midnight. The room’s climate control was completely ineffective, leaving it unbearably hot and difficult to sleep. Opening the window wasn’t an option either due to the loud restaurant directly below.||The bathroom had a persistent sewage odor. The toilet made strange gargling noises intermittently, and one morning we discovered wet toilet paper in the shower—likely pushed up from the drain. While the shower pressure and temperature were excellent, the water flooded the floor, and with no floor towel provided (and towels only available by requesting them at reception), drying off the area was a challenge.||Housekeeping isn’t available until after the fourth day, which meant running out of toilet paper required the awkward task of asking for more in front of fellow guests. This was hands-down the dirtiest hotel I’ve ever stayed in. I’ve included photos: damaged wallpaper, holes in the walls, visible dust buildup, and thick dust around the carpet edges where the vacuum couldn’t reach.||The bed itself was comfortable, but our request for a twin setup was ignored and we were...

Stay with me at the Comfort Hotel on Karl Johan Road in Oslo…. The perfect city centre location, only a stones throw from the central station and short walk to all the sights of the city, plus it offers free breakfasts, free late checkouts on a Sunday and a great gym in the basement.
