Big mistake - a strange experience I do not plan to repeat! Their kebab is quite expensive (additional 20-40% fee on top of the price they advertise if you buy late in the evening) and they fill up the dish with white rice... Is this a special "Asian kebab"? - a first to me, and NOT a success... but perhaps proper salad, onions, tomato etc. is too expensive?? The lamb tasted "wolly" in that special, unpleasant way - maybe that is what they tried to camouflage with the way-too-spicy sauce? I like hot sauce myself, but this was over there top and quite suspicious... Service this evening was neither personal nor pleasant, and they had very loud music both indoors and outside, attracting drunk and annoying people. If you stand in front of Carmel grill, my tip is to walk up the few steps on the right and buy your kebab at the very small place upstairs! I have eaten there many times and I find the food and the service much better. I believe it may be called "Dronningens kebab"? Anyway - that's where I'll go again in the future.

For NOK 150 (USD 14.28) I bought a huge vegan lunch, that was definitely not for one person, I had to take have of my plate to my hotel, for next day lunch. I ordered falafel and fries, that came with an enormous salad, sauces of all kinds, hummus, maize, etc. It was so good that I came back, and with friends. We keep recommending this place not only for the good food and great price if traveling on a budget, but also, the variety of options, the attention was impecable, they are very patient, kind, nice people during the whole dining experience.

This is my & my partner’s go-to place for good food!! Everyone who works here are very friendly, courteous & helpful! They will always have a smile on their face & never a dull moment when you interact with them how much ever the rush maybe!! As a photographer, curious traveller & the one who has been visiting Carmel Grill since BC (Before Covid😀) They were very courteous & helpful however they could even during the peak of COVID in Europe/ Norway!! We definitely recommend visiting this place for good food; especially middle-east cuisine!!!

I have to say that I am HUGE on lamb shawarma. Everywhere I go, if there is a delicious hunk of beef/lamb, I am more than likely to grab a plate of it and rave as much as I can. Now - this place from the outside didn't look like much. It in fact seemed like your average eatery, but inside? oh boy...was I NOT prepared for quite possibly the best lamb I have ever had. Being from NYC, I've had quite the variety of kebab, but Carmel Grill just jumped to the top of the list, and dunked a 3 pointer. The meat was so crispy but juicy and flavorful. The bed of fries beneath the largest portion of meat I've ever gotten was a perfect compliment. On the side? a lovely salad of greens, tomatoes, onions, spicy sauce, and a few other treats to go very well with the nice and warm pita.

10/10 - I am looking back to stumbling right back upon their door...
