Mamma Pizza really does have great food. Their pizzas and pasta is truly one of Oslo's best. Unfortunately the staff is not the greatest. Possibly short-staffed? Basing this on not being attentive after recieving our pizzas. It was a warm day, so we finished the water bottle quite fast, and during the rest of our dinner the water bottle wasn't switched out with a new one. Please note: we placed the empty water bottle at the end of our table, so it would be easy for the staff to spot. When it didn't get switched out, we thought about just ordering another drink (in addition to the red wine we had already ordered at the beginning), but didn't get to speak to anyone. Nor did they come up to our table and ask us the usual follow-up, "does everything taste fine?". To us, the staff simply felt too busy to grab a hold of, and we didn't wanna "burden" them.

We were aware that this restaurant is very popular and we didn't mind waiting 25 minutes to get our table. They put us on their waiting list, and we received a text once the table was ready. On time! We appreciated that. We got to order everything within a few minutes, and we were served our amazing pizzas astonishingly fast. Within 10-15 minutes. We were really hungry at that point, so that was actually very good. Only thing missing here was a bit of tender care, if only once throughout dinner.

We will definitely go back, and would reccomend this place for the amazing food. They also have gluten free pizzas! Really good if you can't eat gluten. If it's a (warm) Saturday evening, you should take into account that you might have to wait a bit.

Pricing is moderate. Not cheap, nor very expensive. Typical pricing for a good pizza...

[OSLO, NORWAY] Recommended by locals, this Italian place is a must come when you're here in Oslo! The pizzas and pastas here were not only authentic but really delicious as well. People were having the huge pizzas individually for themselves without sharing 😱

The Pistacchiosa🍕(315 NOK) boasted such a great pistachio pesto sauce, with strong aromatic flavour from the basil and rich nuttiness from the pistachios. I stand by pistachio pesto as the best pesto, due to its rich nuttiness that is incomparable! Pair that with fresh burrata that was spread nicely on the pizza base and generous amounts of savoury meaty Parma ham. It's absolutely amazing.

Now we come to the true test, the Carbonara 🍝 (255 NOK) and it was heavenly. They used the traditional egg yolk parmesan sauce, which was rich and creamy on its own. The pasta itself was very al dente, and the bacon used was savoury and meaty.

The Vongole 🍝 (279 NOK) we ordered was a surprising twist, as it was tomato based! Most of the Vongole I've had in Singapore had white wine sauces. The spaghetti had caught most of the tomato sauce which had a strong seafood base. This was really comforting, and it somehow tasted like it was cooked by an Italian grandma 😂 clams were very fresh and sweet too.

Do note that they only accept walk ins for dinner, and there was a 45 min queue at 5pm! Love that most people eating there were...

I wish I could give a 4.5/5 because the only thing keeping mamma pizza from a 5 star review from us, is that the atmosphere didn’t meet our expectations:( The staff is very friendly and extremely helpful! We didn’t have to ask once for a new jug of water, they just came with it the second we finished one!! It also didn’t take more than around 15 minutes for our food to arrive which was very great. It also happened to be absolutely delicious. I ordered a principessa (great if you love the combination of sweet and savory), and my partner ordered a ‘nduja (the flavor reminded me of gochujang!). The portions were definitely not too small, as we ended up having to take some of it to go. Even then, the pizza tasted very good once it got cold. So, although the food and staff exceeded expectations, the atmosphere of the restaurant threw us off a little. It’s extremely crowded and tight. I found myself not being able to push my chair back without hitting the person behind me. The only other thing I would comment on is that the light could be dimmer for a more cozy feel. Overall, Mamma Pizza really does make the best authentic pizza I’ve tasted in Norway, but the atmosphere spoils it for the both of us. Of course this is just our personal opinion, so we would highly encourage...
