We picked this hotel because we had booked to dive with Fin n Fins for 4 days and for a week on one of their liveaboards.||||We checked into the hotel in the early hours around 3.30am. The chap on reception was welcoming and friendly, but did not give us any introduction / information of the hotel. Breakfast was fine but we became aware of a strange atmosphere or rather lack any atmosphere. The staff seemed remote and not particularly helpful - almost as if guests are disturbing their day. For example, when we asked if there was Wi-fi: Reply was ”Yes”, no further information forthcoming. Us: “is it free?”, Reply “Yes”, Us: “Is there a passcode needed?” Reply “Yes”. Us: “In that case what is it?” It all seemed to be a bit too much hard work – a bit like Fatty Owls, but without Basil and the humour!.||||Don’t bother with the W-fi though as it is soooo slow ie it has took 28 minutes to download one text only e-mail before we got fed up and switched the computer off. The rooms themselves are OK, the bed was very comfortable and the room clean. The air-conditioning only just cooled the room and this was not helped by the fact that like most hotels the electricity in the room is activated by a card and thus generally the air-con’ was off when we were out of the room. ||||Why there was a reproduction suit of armour guarding the entrance to the restaurant none of the staff seem to know. Apart from the restaurant there are no facilities. There is a small deck overlooking the bay, but we were forced to move when the restaurant staff turned on loud music despite the fact there were no other guests there at the time. Perhaps the idea of us eating here was too much like hard work. ||||The area with sun-loungers is on the marina jetty and only had two functioning sun-loungers. Many of the rooms overlook Fish N Fins dive school marina and yard with the refuse heap in the background, with the doors to the rooms (no windows) all opening onto a lovely view of the bay. Why on earth the builders did not turn the hotel around so the rooms had a great view is an absolute mystery. ||||Only stay here for the convenience if diving at Fish n Fins and all you want is a room with no view, no pool, nowhere to sit in the sun, no service and no...
Read moreStayed 4 nights whilst diving with Fish n Fins. The hotel was in good shape, the rooms were very comfortable. I found the staff to be very helpful especially when we had to wait several hours in the lobby for our next pick up. Breakfast had enough variety that we always found something we wanted, they even brought in a special pastry when I requested it. Eggs were cooked to order. ||||If I had one complaint it was about the dinner service. The hotel offers packages to some travelers including a fixed meal plan. Both times we had dinner in the hotel restaurant we experienced a longer then average wait for our meals while diners on the fixed plan who arrived after us were served before us. It was so frustrating the second night we started walking into town for dinner after that.||||It was a 10 min walk in town and there was a selection of restaurants, gift shops and department stores. For fast food we loved the chicken burger at the burger shop found to the right of Surangel...
