Some friends recommended Palau, and insisted I book diving with Palau Escape; I will now forever be in their debt. From the first WhatsApp text, Joe was helpful, kind, and welcoming. He answered questions, made suggestions, helped me book diving days, hotel, and airport pick up & drop off. The boat captains - Asailee & Newman- were great. Super personable, safe, capable, friendly and funny. We had a great time on the boat every day, even in the rain and wind. Angelo was the perfect Divemaster: professional, knowledgeable, safety conscious, kind, and patient. He has been diving Palau forever and knows all the dives. I was super impressed with how well the team read the water: Angelo & Asailee would talk about the dive sites, and then Angelo would jump into the water and check out the currents. They determined which was the most advantageous for each dive. Angelo adapted to the different divers: some loved the big stuff and some wanted to see nudi branches. He showed us so many beautiful things. He seemed to have super eyes; I swear he would point and there would be nothing, and then all of a sudden: sharks, turtles, manta rays, nudis, or something else gorgeous would appear. We saw four types of sharks, three types of rays, turtles, barracuda, shad, black snapper, and a million more things. In the 8 days of diving with Palau Escape, I had at least the top three if not four, dives of my life. There don’t exist superlatives to accurately describe how amazing the dives were. Stunning, exquisite, beautiful, fabulous. I really enjoyed diving with a smaller group: we got to enjoy the best places and not feel like a million people were there. The guys made sure we always had a good day on the boat. Water available, lunch every day, after dive snacks, hot tea after every dive. Even a solar warmed little shower if someone wanted it. Joe, Asailee, Angelo & Newman are a great dive crew. We had a blast and I’m already planning a trip back. This trip, and the diving in particular, were exceptional. Water was gorgeous, coral was beyond stunning, marine life was beyond even what Disney could dream up. Book your trip to Palau, and send a WhatsApp to Joe. You won’t believe how gorgeous it is. I don’t take a camera underwater, but the divers I was with got once in a lifetime photos. I can just show you the beautiful color of the water. These are real....

From start to finish, the trip was full of good vibes, top-notch safety, and so much learning. It wasn’t just about diving—it was a deep dive into Palauan culture and history, which made the whole experience even more meaningful.✨✨

Every pre-dive briefing was clear, detailed, and super helpful. They always had backup plans, checked in with us after each dive, and made sure we stayed sharp. After 5 days and 16 dives, our group felt like a close-knit team with great chemistry!🙌🏽

At more challenging dive sites like Peleliu, we were nervous at first and worried we wouldn’t be able to handle it. But thankfully, we had the best dive guide—Joe. He was amazing at reading the ocean conditions and currents, and gave us all the information we needed to prepare properly and dive safely. We felt 100% confident with him leading the way.💪🏼

My dive buddies and I are already talking about signing up again with Palau Escape. One of the things I love most is how flexible and customizable their plans are—morning dives followed by island hopping or land tours in the afternoon? Yes, please! They even offer tech dives like sidemount cave diving.🤿🫧

Oh—and we also booked a snorkeling trip from them: 8 hours, 8 stunning spots! Palau’s snorkeling sites are next level—calm, beautiful, and super relaxing. Even as a total beginner, I felt comfortable enough to try freediving and managed to reach 3 meters! That little win felt amazing. 😆🐠

Bonus shoutout to Joe—he’s also a great tea maker! 🫖He would wake up early every morning to brew bottles of tea for us, with flavors like mint, cinnamon, and mango-passionfruit. It was such a thoughtful touch that made us feel truly cared for and relaxed.

My family had the pleasure of touring with Joe, Joan and Francis from Palau Escape during our March 2018 holiday in Palau and I would have no hesitation in recommending them.

Having been treated subpar by another dive shop, I approached Joe to see whether he could assist with achieving some of my goals for my holiday. He not only did that but helped us do much more and made our holiday a wonderful success!

From the outset, Joe was keen to listen, understand and provide what I wanted. He provided a mix of exclusive custom tours including snorkelling, group land/boat tours and shared diving adventures.

He enabled me to get to a couple of places I was really keen to visit but unable to reach otherwise - Mandarin Fish Lake to see the magnificent Mandarin Fish, and Blue Corner to see the immensely special dive site.

It was an absolute pleasure an honour to be shown some of Palau's best treasures by Francis Toribiong who discovered them, including Blue Corner and an enchanting hidden lake reachable via tidal cave.

Joe also arranged two days of spectacular diving and contacted us when an opportunity arose for a special tour of Peleliu's war history.

Joe also suggested other activities that my family might enjoy based on our interests, and to my surprise recommended activities that he didn't provide or profit from as he thought they would be the best holiday experience for my family.

It was such a nice experience - and contrast from the other dive shop I used first - to be with a fantastic team of people who all loved showing customers the delights of Palau and actively sought to understand and meet customer interests (instead of just trying to maximise profit and minimise effort).
