The guesthouse is basically working as accommodation for the Antelope diveshop's clients, and also for its employees. ||We had a rough start with them, since they forgot to pick us up from the airport. Normally this wouldn't be much of a hassle, but at 4am there are no taxis at Koror airport. After things have been sorted out, they ended up by offering us the accomodation for the first night. ||Rooms are basic, but clean. There are single and double rooms (club house), with shared bathrooms, and also deluxe rooms and the bamboo cottage, offering higher levels of comfort and privacy. We stayed 2 nights in a double room and 2 nights in the bamboo cottage. All was ok, except for the matresses, which require urgent replacement.||The breakfast was basic but good: there are several options (continental, Filipino, American, pancake, omelette, etc.) and one must book it the evening before. The continental option ($5) is cheaper then the others ($8).||The staff was friendly and courteous.||||We also spent 1 day diving with them, which was easy because they are located on Malakal island, right on the water. We did 3 dives: Grass Land, Siaes Tunnel and Ulong Channel. They were all amazing. The dive guides/instructor, although not fluent in English, tried to brief us as they could and were really attentive to us during the dives.||We also did the Super Rock Islands tour with Antelope. They took us to: Milky Way, Jellyfish lake, Clam City, Long beach, Big Drop Off, Paradise and Natural Arch.||||All in all, they really know what they are doing and are very friendly. We definitely recommend them. Nonetheless, if you don't speak Japanese, be prepared to deal with some...
Read moreAbsolutely loved our 7 night stay. We were a group of 5 early 30's mid-budget travelers going to Palau mostly for snorkeling and diving. Antelope was everything we needed. We stayed in the Bamboo House which was perfect for us. This is an old (locally owned-one of the few!) hotel so it was not fancy & its age shows (hence the 4/5 stars), but they keep it clean. Signs of age include: can't flush toilet paper, occasionally finicky hot water, and general evidence of wear and tear. For some travelers coming from the states, these kinds of things may be a surprise or unacceptable but if you can get over minor things like this this place is awesome. For what we needed it was 5/5. There are two showers in the Bamboo house which is so helpful on a trip where everyone is salty at the end of the day and needs to shower before dinner. The location is within walking distance to good restaurants, Long Beach park, and most of the main dive shops in Korror (Sam's, Fish N' Fins, Paddle Palau etc.). If, like us, you are going to Palau to snorkle/dive, they have a freshwater cleaning station and a locked dry room on the ground floor to hang all your gear. The staff was super helpful whenever we needed transportation arrangements. They have a small pool which they keep VERY clean. They told us not to drink the water but there is a store about a block away where you can buy gallon jugs for $5. Will definitely stay here again if we are able to go...
Read moreI stayed at Antelope Guesthouse for my one week stay in Palau. |I will start with the good things. The accommodation did pick me up from the airport as agreed. The host was nice. My room had a view. The air conditioning worked well. |Most of the accommodation I didn't like. |It isn't in a great location, right by the big industrial petrol storage tankers. |When I first arrived the swimming pool was empty with no water in it. It took them a few days into my week stay to fill the swimming pool up with water. The swimming pool was very small. There was no steps to climb into or out of the swimming pool. The area looked quite junky and untidy around the swimming pool. Uncomfortable seating around the pool. |I had a single bed room. The bed wasn't very comfortable and gave me a bit of a sore back. I could hear noise from some of the other guests in other rooms close by. |They had a shared bathroom which was very small. The bathroom didn't really have anywhere to hang up your toiletries or shelves to put your clothes. Just a very basic bathroom. |Overall, I didn't spend much time at the accommodation as I didn't like it very much. |I wouldn't stay here again if I return to Palau. I would only recommend this place if you are on a strict budget and can't afford anywhere nicer. |I would give the place a 2 star rating as there were still a few good things, but overall I was...
