I’ve done 9 dives with Cruise Control so far. It is a fantastic dive shop with great guides and I cannot recommend them enough. I also arranged an Open Water PADI course for 5 friends. Communication with Cruise Control has been exceptional. Michie and Rei are very responsive by phone and WhatsApp, answered all my questions, and took great care of us. The Open Water course I was coordinating had some last minute shuffling and Cruise Control was very accommodating. Several of us have now done Enriched Air certification through them as well.
So far we’ve worked with Rishia, Chihiro, Kazushi, Chifuyu, and Yuka. All have been amazing. I really appreciate how they’ve met us at our level, such as making the diver:guide ratio 2:1 when some of our more nervous divers were doing their first fun dive after completing the open water course. The guides put safety first, do a good dive brief and are very attentive in the water. It had been several years since my last dive when I came to Palau. My first time out I stayed close to my guide and was impressed at how they anticipated situations that may lead to safety concerns and how they gently directed us to keep us safe. I did not feel overly 'corralled' in any way and the more advanced divers in my group did not either. The guides have universally been kind, competent, and fun.
Diving with cruise control is an absolute blast. Ive done 9 dives with them and the only spot we’ve repeated is German Channel. Since I am in complete awe of Mantas I was more than thrilled to dive here twice, though I was surprised that both dives felt quite different from each other. Palau is simply incredible underwater. The instructors all carried metal chimes to get our attention and I enjoyed the sound as it usually meant something beautiful or interesting was nearby.
They take great care of you out of the water as well. Hot tea is served on the boat after the first dive and I like it so much I think I’ll be disappointed the next time I dive with someone else who doesn’t do this! Also, for a nominal additional fee you can order a delicious bento-box style lunch… I highly recommend it. They provide jackets to make sure you’re warm and are always ready with a helping hand with setting up and checking gear.
Dive conditions in Palau have been fantastic and I’ve seen such a great variety of marine life. Mantas, crocodile fish, turtles, lion fish, disco clams, moray eels, humphead parrotfish, Napolean wrasse, reef sharks galore, schools of blackfin barracuda... the list goes on and on. Drift diving, reef hooks, blue holes.. such great experiences. I plan on diving with Cruise Control as much as possible while I am in Palau and recommend them to anyone looking for a top...
Read moreI have been diving all over the world and this is perhaps the most well-run, organized, professional and friendly dive operation I’ve ever encountered. From the minute I reached out several months in advance, they were responsive and attentive. This Japanese-run dive operation clearly prioritized safety and comfort. When our trip got delayed by a day due to a flight cancelation, they were understanding and friendly. When we arrived at the shop on day 1 (free pick up from our hotel), they were ready and waiting with all of our gear later out and paperwork ready to sign.
Once we were set, all we had to do was get on the boat and go. We had requested specific dive sites to go to, and they were more than happy to accommodate our requests! One thing we loved was that as the boat pulled away, everyone from the shop was on the dock waving goodbye. The dive guides were excellent too-friendly and attentive. The dive briefings were great and the groups were small, often times it was just our group on 2 or 4 and there were always two guides (one who led and the other who stayed in the back). And I’d be remiss if I didn’t mention the delicious bento boxes served for lunch every day on the boat and the hot tea (both sweet or unsweetened) which was served between dives. The dive guides carried GoPro cameras and were happy to share their video footage with us after the dives.
All in all, this is a 10-star dive operation and I would honestly say, if you’re going to be diving in Palau, you really shouldn’t look any further than...
Read moreCruise Control is the best dive shop anywhere! We are a mother and daughter duo. It had been awhile since our last dive so we opted for a refresher dive first. Kazushi, Chihiro, Rushia the other dive masters and everyone on their team couldn't have been more patient, kind and thoughtful! After reviving our diving skills we went on 5 more dives with them. The dive masters picked dives according to our skill level, so we were able to relax and enjoy each dive. We went to the German Channel, Jake's Sea Plane, Ulong Wall and several others. Each one was spectacular, with beautiful living coral and an abundant variety of fish. The Cruise Control team thought of everything and provided for our every need. From 2:1 dive masters, hot tea, candy and warm jackets after a dive and a delicious Bento box lunches. I would recommend everyone to use Cruise Control for all your dives and for every member of your family. You will have the best dive experience on Palau and not be...
