Hostal Universal Huaraz — Hotel in Huaraz

I'm very grateful for choosing to stay at Hostal universal in Huaraz! I highly recommend this place for various reasons. It's conveniently located just blocks away from the city center, and just outside the hostel doors you will find loads of fresh fruits, vegetables, and many local shops! The rooms are very well priced and VERY well maintained, with hot showers, fresh linens, tv's, lots of space, private bathrooms, and they even clean your rooms EVERY day!

Although I can attest to the above, what really sold me on this place was the hospitality that I received from Dante & Yovana. It's a family ran business that goes above and beyond to ensure your stay is fantastic. They serve breakfast, and continuously accommodated for me as I often left early to do some trekking. They were even kind enough to allow me to store my bags there during a 4 day trek (secured away) and have a later check out since I was taking a night bus back to Lima.

If you're looking for a quiet and friendly place that feels very comfortable, I definitely recommend staying here at Hostal Universal! Thanks Dante & Yovana for making me feel like family and so extremely...

We used universal as a trekking base for our 3 weeks in Huaraz.||First room was so cold we had to ask for extra blankets, and the sheets didn't fit the bed so in the middle of the night you woke up laying on the plastic mattress cover, not nice.||Upon our return our next room was much warmer but same issue with the sheets.||I asked for a proper fitted sheet but nothing was done.||They were accommodating with my food allergies at breakfast which was great.||On our final return to Huaraz, upon asking if we could use a shower before leaving we were told we could pay the full room rate! They have a shower off the dining room we could have used quickly.....||This place is nice, I don't call it a hostel personally, there is no kitchen and no real communal atmosphere.||A few small issues let it down, or I would have...

Dante and his wife are fabulous. They take care of everything and help at all times. It felt like staying with a family ♥️ The location of the hostel is very central, you are practically in the middle of the lively city center, which is very exciting. We had a lot of fun walking around and soaking up the atmosphere. At the same time, it was super quiet at night (we had a fantastic night's sleep) as we had a room facing the backyard. The room was newly renovated and well equipped. The shower was very warm and the bed was comfortable and cozy. We also had a huge TV! The breakfast is simple but freshly made. We were able to arrange our check-out flexibly according to our bus journey. You rarely get so much service. The price was also affordable. We highly recommend this accommodation...
