This is a basic hotel with no frills, however this is not my quibble. We stayed here twice during our few weeks in Peru, essentially to bookend our travels through the country and as such we weren't seeking any level of luxury, just a comfortable crash-pad to start and finish our journey. Unfortunately I wasn't comfortable at all, as the rooms were so cold - even my husband and child (who are predisposed to being warm), wore extra layers in bed. When I requested a heater, I was offered extra blankets, which don't deal with the pervasive chill in the atmosphere. I was warmer and more comfortable in the mountains (albeit we paid more for our hotels there) and actually dreaded coming back to the cold. A shame, as had the rooms been warmer, this would have met my expectations, with only a few points of feedback as follows: - Good variety at breakfast, but all but 1 of the days, the hot items were barely tepid. - We had an early trip one day and asked for a packed breakfast, the friendly staff member assured us that continental items would be available from 6am - they weren't - We booked 4 airport transfers with the hotel - 3 were fine, but the first was very late and the driver apologised profusely. My concern pertains more to trying to resolve this however, as when I called reception, whilst the staff member was friendly and reassuring, they just said the driver would be there in a few minutes and then disconnected. I had to call back twice and instead of staying on the call to check where the driver was and update me, the staff member disconnected each time. Perhaps it was a communication issue, I am ashamed I don't speak more Spanish, but this could clearly have been handled more supportively. - The WiFi access changed between our visits and the new voucher system only allows a single device. This meant I couldn't sync my kindle and my son had to confine himself to a single device (of many - no bad thing in my view, but he...
Read moreEverything in our room was broken on our second night (first night it worked). None of the plugs worked, so we couldn't charge our phones. We lost running water at the start of the night, and it never came back on, so we couldn't shower, wash our hands, or flush the toilet. A problem with the electrical meant that the A/C turned itself on every 45 minutes or so and made a horrible beeping/buzzing noise throughout the night, so we had to wake up every hour to turn it off. The same electrical problem caused the bedside light to turn on and off if you tried to use it. There were no empty rooms, and the only other option was to switch hotels at 1 in the morning the night before an early flight, so we just had to live with it and fly home on no sleep, and without the chance to shower. I heard back about a week later, and they apologized, and refunded me for one night. They explained that something had occurred outside the hotel affecting the rooms on the 4th floor, and that they regret that they couldn't do more...
Read moreThere are two sides. The reception and the staff were kind, English-speaking. The inner garden and breakfast area are in an nice, colonial style. Breakfast is all right, the wi-fi works well. The opposite are the rooms: we had the upper floor, small room, with a frowzy smell but all the comfort equipment as promised in the description. Unfortunately there was a noise generator going on like every hour in the night, waking us up all the time (sounded like an industrial tumble-dryer, maybe a water pump). Also the thin doors could not isolate the early morning travelers noise and the voice of the staff starting their workday. All these had a serious impact on our sleep quality. We appreciate the phonic isolated windows, at least the street noise was reduced.||||As for the management: since the hotel has only two parking slots please make sure you offer them on the online booking system if they are really available. I would not bet on the street safety so it is good to know our rented cars stay in...
