I had been looking forward to Mangos more than any other restaurant during our trip to Lima, and I cannot begin to express how disappointing and frustrating our experience was. What should’ve been a relaxing, scenic lunch turned into one of the most obnoxious and irritating meals I’ve ever had — all because the restaurant allowed two inconsiderate guests to completely take over the space with their full-blast phone audio.
Two women seated across from us decided to watch something — maybe a Zoom call, maybe a TV show — out loud on their phones, with no headphones, at a completely unacceptable volume. It echoed across the entire section. It wasn’t background noise. It was disruptive, inconsiderate, and incredibly loud. We politely asked them to turn it down so we could enjoy our time. They looked directly at us — and then continued watching without lowering the volume at all. FYI, the video they were watching was in English, so it’s not like they couldn’t understand us.
At that point, we flagged our waiter and explained what was going on, hoping the restaurant staff would step in to maintain a decent environment for everyone else dining there. Instead, he did absolutely nothing. No follow-up. No apology. Just shrugged it off and let them continue. The fact that the staff allowed this behavior — and ignored the guests who were clearly being impacted — is unacceptable.
We ended up rushing through our food just to get out of there. It completely ruined the meal and the experience. I had expected much better from a place that’s supposed to be a Lima staple. The setting may be beautiful, but it means nothing when the restaurant refuses to create a basic standard of courtesy.

Read moreWATCH OUT for Deceptive Billing Practices at Mangoes Restaurant in Lima, Peru
I recently visited Mangoes restaurant in Lima, Peru, and while the dining experience was enjoyable with delicious food and prompt service, I feel compelled to share a concerning incident that marred the overall impression.
Upon receiving the bill, I noticed two additional charges, totaling an extra 31%—13% and 18%, respectively. When I inquired about these charges, the waiter feigned a lack of English proficiency and mumbled something unintelligible. It was only when the payment machine was handed to me that I saw the fine print at the bottom of the bill, stating that the tip was not included, and I was encouraged to leave a tip.
This experience left me deeply disappointed and feeling taken advantage of. Such deceptive billing practices, coupled with the reluctance of the staff to provide a clear explanation, are unacceptable and, in my view, constitute dishonest behavior. As a customer, I expect transparency and honesty, regardless of nationality or background.
While the food and service were commendable, the shadow cast by this unethical incident significantly diminished the overall satisfaction of the dining experience. I strongly urge the management of Mangoes to reevaluate their billing practices and ensure that customers are treated fairly and transparently.
In conclusion, while Mangoes may offer delightful cuisine, potential patrons should be cautious and scrutinize their bills to avoid falling victim to unexpected and...

SERVICE After we arrived we waited for over 40 minutes for someone to come and greet us. We came at around 7 or 8pm so it was somewhat cold, my wife asked if they had blankets before we sat and was told “si claro le traemos una ni bien esten sentados” After the 40 minutes wait and my father in law trying to get their attention my wife asked about the blanket and was told “ya le busco una” 10 minutes after that we are told that there are no blankets, that they are at the laundry. Had to call a manager to get moved tables. No service sense what so ever.
FOOD Asked for the Tomahawk steak but of course an expensive place like this would not have it, just the name in the menu, I settled for 2 dished the Gnocchi and the Sabana de Lomo (only in the Spanish menu) Gnocchi, was with pesto sauce, to be honest the sauce was very underwhelming, if you are not used to pesto you might think it is okay, but that can not even be considered a pesto sauce. The Sabana de Lomo, it was so thin it felt like chewing on a piece of cardboard, taste was okay but just not right.
PRICE Forgot the price. It came out to 250 US Dollars for 7 people. 1 appetizer, no deserts and 2...
