We had a truly great experience here, and it deserves a full write-up. From the moment we walked in, the service stood out — it reminded us a lot of the service you get at Chick-fil-A back in the States, which is saying something. The staff was incredibly attentive and friendly, constantly checking on us to make sure we had everything we needed without being intrusive. It made the whole experience feel very welcoming and relaxed.
The menu had a lot of variety, which made it hard to choose — a good problem to have! In the end, we decided to order four different sandwiches and asked them to cut each one into quarters so that everyone at the table could sample a little bit of everything. It was a fun way to try several items in one meal, and we were impressed by how well they plated and served them.
We tried the Lechón a la Leña, the Lomo Lucha, the Pollo Deluxe, and the Chicharrón. Every single one was flavorful, fresh, and well-prepared. The portions were generous, and the bread was perfect — soft inside with just the right amount of crunch outside.
The atmosphere was breezy and casual, thanks to the big open-air entrance. It kept the place airy and lively, which was nice, though if you’re sensitive to wind or outdoor noise you may notice it. Other than that small detail, everything was excellent. We left feeling satisfied and happy, and we’d definitely come back again to try even more items...
Read moreWe stayed at the Hilton, a 5 minute walk away, for 5 days. We ate here 4 times! We passed it and it looked good, so we checked reviews and as they were good, we tried it. My husband is vegetarian and there are no veggie options on the regular menu. However it was easy to order the ham/egg/ cheese with no ham, and add guacamole. There is an offer to get a small fries and a chifa morada cheaply together as an add-on. We followed the approach of another reviewer and shared the fries and drink with a sandwich each, which worked great for us. We both like chicha but it's strongly flavoured and sweet and we can't drink a lot of it. There's was good too.
I tried the chicharron which was excellent; the juicy beef, the same with cheese and guacamole, and finally the rotisserie chicken with extra guacamole. Everything was delicious - crisp, light bread filled with fresh real food, nicely prepared (though oddly the cheese is processed variety, still tastes good though). They do other drinks including beer and typical Peruvian fresh juices, we watched them preparing them and they all looked great. The typical Peruvian skin-on fries are excellent, and the dips they provide too. All in all, definitely somewhere we'd recommend and come back to. It's not Michelin star food of course, but it's very good and fresh.
Oh... and...
Read moreI went to this place on the first day of my Peru trip as this was highly recommended by my Peruvian colleague. La Lucha Sanguchería Criolla is a popular Peruvian sandwich chain that started in Lima, Peru The concept of the restaurant revolves around showcasing the rich diversity of Peruvian ingredients and culinary traditions in a fast-casual format.
I was greeted by a cheerful staff and suggested that I try their promotion: sandwich + potato fries + drinks. I had their famous chicharron sanguche (fried pork sandwich), papas fritas (potato fries) and chicha morada (purple corn drink).
I was excited to try their chicharron sandwich to see if their chicharron is the same as the Philippine chicharron. They're different as the crispy and crunchy pork skin wasn't there however the sandwich was good. The pickled onion was a good complement to the savory fried pork as I find the meat a bit on the salty side. Chicha morada became my instant favorite, some of my friends think it was too sweet but for me it was ok. The dip they used for the papas fritas was (spicy mustard) was a good pair.
I highly...
