I'd say this is more of a 3 star hotel than 4. The facility feels new enough, but finishing touches could use some finesse. Inside the room, the caulking along the door seemed to need another layer. Not much sense of privacy, I could hear talks and noises in the hallway and the street quite easily. I'm usually bit more of a light sleeper, but I was so tired after Machu Picchu and was able to fall asleep relatively easily at night. Keep in mind, roosters start roosting around 6am and keeps going till 7am (this definitely woke me up). There's also someone who clangs a bell or something on the streets pretty early too. If you're a light sleeper, I recommend asking for a quieter room when checking in (definitely not building 5, which felt closest to the street). Also, there's no fan in the bathroom so it can stay quite humid after a shower. We didn't mind this, but I could see how depending on the season it might be inconvenient or if you're staying long term and trying to dry out some wet clothes. ||While service is kind, there's somewhat of a chaotic feeling to check-in, dinner, and breakfast services. Check-in is listed as 1pm, but our room was still not ready when I went to the front desk around 1:15pm. We had a quick lunch and went back around 1:35, and they were still not quite ready. Made us nervous because our guide told us to meet her at 1:50 at the lobby. ||However, it fit the bill, convenient location and felt like a relatively clean facility overall. For one night, it was...
Read moreIt was okay but if I’m being honest, a lot of why I didn’t love it had more to do with Aguas Calientes than the hotel itself. It’s very much a town for college students and people in their 20s, the backpacker crowd. I’m too old for that nonsense so the hyper touristy vibe of the town (tourism is it’s only reason for existing) and the late night drinking and partying which is audible through the windows and super thin walls of this place annoyed me. The room was super basic, the bare essentials all there but some comforts like a soap bar in the shower were missing. The bed was super uncomfortable, omg, it felt like they draped a few beams of wood with a sheet. I like a firm mattress but that’s not what this was. It also clearly felt like my “king” bed was just two smaller beds fitted together with a sheet because the crease between the two was easy to feel and also uncomfortable. Breakfast was okay, a good enough variety of decent tasting options to fuel you through your energy intensive hike up Machu Picchu. I’d say I wouldn’t stay here again but that’s mostly because I would never stay overnight in Aguas Calientes again either. I’d recommend for the over 30 / mature crowd to find a way to bypass the town and just visit Machu Picchu directly for day then return to better accommodations and atmosphere in Cusco or some other...
Read moreA basic simple tourist Hotel done with a lot of flare. Very hip quotations painted on the walls to show how clever their marketing department is. Lots of stuff about environmental awareness painted on the steps and messages on the shower curtain.
Very nice layout and attractive corners and seating within the hotel but not very inviting exterior featuring vertical bamboo poles......
Staff are, as everywhere else we have been in the Peru , very helpful and accommodating. Astoundingly efficient check-in given the number of guests coming in and out for one or two night stays.
Fairly good restaurant menu, but my main course, of chicken, was served barely warm let alone hot. Chocolate tarts was not a tart but the standard chocolate cake found everywhere else in Peru and was better on the train...
Bedrooms are bright and white with a very powerful shower, small safe which will not accommodate a laptop and lots of power points but, surprisingly for such a hip Hotel , no USB points.
This is a noisy Hotel probably not helped by the stone corridors open each end and constant turnover of guests for Macchu Piccu.
Breakfast is excellent with a wide choice for every taste but staff run off their feet and constant lack of clean glasses and cutlery.
Overall, a good experience in a hotel coping very well with so many 1...
