BEWARE, PEOPLE WITH ALLERGIES My partner speaks fluent Spanish and told the server, TWICE, in Spanish, they were anaphylacticlly allergic to apples before we started ordering. My partner ordered a Chica Morada and asked if there was any apple and he said there was no Apple and it was strictly made with pineapple juice. Come to find out, after my partner started drinking their drink, there was dehydrated apple in the drink. The only reason we found out is because I asked the bartender, just to triple check before my partner drank any more. The bartender confirmed there was dehydrated apple and we told the server. The server responded by “ok, just don’t drink it then”. When my partner said “I already did, so it’s too late” he said “what happens now?” And my partner said “we have to wait and see if I need to stab myself with my epi-pen”. He still continued to claim “I know there is no apple in the drink, it’s made with pineapple for sure”. We then asked him to triple check with the bartender, so he reluctantly went and checked and came back and said “the only part that has apple is the top of the drink”. My partner said, “it doesn’t matter, I told you I was allergic twice. I asked you if there was Apple, you said there was no Apple and it was strictly made with pineapple juice. I CANNOT ingest apple”. He didn’t apologize, just left the drink at our table and didn’t suggest any sort of compensation or alternative. My partner asked them to remake it without Apple, as it was the least they can do. So, they could’ve made it without Apple the entire time. Afyer this entire very scary experience, he still charged us for the drink with apple and did not compensate us or apologize once. The food itself was good, not fantastic. We hope this never happens again to...
Read moreSaw an item on the menu which seemed appetizing, so I walked in. The food on Google and the reviews also looked spectacular, so I had high expectations. A few moments later there was a huge explosion in the kitchen. The staff ran out like headless chickens. My fiancé and I were a bit scared because we did not know what was going on (we also didn't get an explanation). We decided to stay (our mistake) and ordered a drink. 10 minutes later and still no one had come to take our orders. My fiancé then went to the bathroom and ended up not being able to go because ladies room was not in condition to be used. She described it as disgusting and filthy. She came back and still no one came to take our order and it had been like 20 minutes. After asking for someone to take our order, we ordered the fettuccine with lomo and aji de gallina. Both meals were salty and not really up to the expectations after reviewing Google. As many others say, this place is good if you just want to take a pretty picture of a pretty dish. Also, as we paid (with card) the waiter ask if we wanted to tip. I said no because I was going to tip cash - he then said, "You can tip us with cash too." We felt a bit disrespected. Anyways, enough of this rant. We just want to be honest with OUR review, it could be different for others and...
Read moreI recently visited Pueblo Viejo with the intention of enjoying a vegetarian-style Fettuccine Alfredo. I clearly requested the vegetarian version, as I do not eat meat. However, I was surprised and disappointed when the dish they served me turned out to contain ham—a blatant oversight.
I brought it to their attention and asked for the correct vegetarian version. Rather than preparing a fresh dish, the kitchen simply attempted to remove the ham from the original one and sent the same plate back to me. It was obvious this was the case, as I found a piece of ham they had missed sitting at the bottom of the dish.
Unfortunately, I didn’t notice the remaining meat until it was too late. I ended up extremely sick for the next three days, violently ill and constantly vomiting. It was a horrible experience, not just physically but emotionally as well—especially knowing that it could have been avoided if proper care had been taken with my dietary request.
This kind of negligence is unacceptable, especially for those of us with dietary restrictions, whether they’re ethical, religious, or health-related. It's not just a preference—it's a responsibility on the restaurant’s part to respect and handle such requests with the seriousness...
