The Bad: Maybe 2 flights of stairs getting to the hostel, then more depending on the floor you are on. ||||The Good: The hosts were WONDERFUL people. They helped us sort a couple issues with our MP tickets, helped book our guide, assisted with luggage, etc etc. His wife always called me Mr. Mark, and we loved our time we spent chatting with them. We had 2 rooms, one for my wife and I and one for my sister and mother. As others have mentioned FANTASTIC view of the main square and mountains. Rooms were clean. Hot/warm water for the most part. Affordable.||||Conclusion: The stairs were tiring after all the hiking, exploring, runes, etc. But it was worth it. Loved the hosts. Loved Peru. Want to go back!||||Tip: The restaurant at the bottom of the stairs was the BEST meal we had while in Peru - Restaurant Indio Feliz. All the restaurants in AC seem to be a cookie cutter of serving everything under the sun. Indo Feliz is run by a frenchman with a smaller select menu. You will probably see him directing his staff and you can tell he takes pride in his establishment. Best meal we...
Read morePerfectly located Hostal Waynapata is a short (5 minute) walk from the train station, the market, the town square and pretty much anything else in Pueblo Macchupicchu. The owners were very friendly and accommodating, and offered up tips on our Macchu Picchu expedition when we arrived. We woke to a glorious view every morning, and after a brief (usually a minute or two) wait, took a pleasant hot shower. The beds were comfortable, and all our needs were met quickly. Yuri was quick to offer advice, recommend a place to eat (hint: the top rated restaurant in town is next door), or even give advice on something as random as where to purchase a belt to replace mine that broke en route. Highly...
Read moreAs a hostel, Waynapata is a safe bet for a stay. We had a room with its own bathroom and a great view over the main square and the mountains - delightful view for what we paid. Our room was quite large with a couple of easy chairs and a coffee table. It was very clean. A good hot shower, but only cold water at the wash basin. A simple continental breakfast was included in the price. The owners were a delight and could not have been more helpful - they carried luggage upstairs and stored it on the day of our departure, among other things. Location was good - very central but tucked away on a side alley so not particularly noisy. Overall very pleased with our stay. Score of 4/5 for a...
