When we checked into this hotel, it seemed typical for the region. We stayed here for one night - did an excursion to Lake Titicaca for a night away -- and then returned. The first night I tried to open a window to let some air in, but I decided against it because the window's were sketchy. They looked like they were fragile. Turns out they are because on the second visit, I heard a loud smash and learned that a window had fallen out of the 5th floor and shattered on the street below. So - don't lean against the windows. ||||Every night there was also music - the loud, thumpin', dance variety - play all night until approximately 4:00 a.m. It was heard more if the bathroom doors were open because they have an outside vent chamber that runs up through there. The beds were small, hard and uncomfortable, and the sheets were too small for the beds so you end up in a tangle by morning. But that's fairly typical of the hotels we stayed in.||||The hotel is in good location to walk to the market and the main square - and a dance club, apparently. The staff was not very friendly. And the breakfast was sporadically serviced. Sometimes eggs, sometimes not --...
Read moreThis is good quality budget hotel in Central Puno, just 200 yards from the train station. I don't understand other reviewers who moan about the "no lift" situation - do your research first guys, rather than complain after the event. If you need a lift, and loads of "hotel" facilities, then book the Sonesta and pay four or five times more - its as simple as that. For $40 a night for a double, including a reasonable breakfast each, the hotel was a good deal.||||Cesar met us at the train station and helped with our bags on a wet and wild night. We'd asked for and been given a first floor room which was a bit old and tired, but absolutely clean and spotless. Our bags were put in our room for us.||||Cesar kindly booked us a full day lake trip with transfers each way, and then a transfer to Juliaca for the flight back to Lima. He added a service fee, which was very low, and we didn't have to do any arranging ourselves. All in all, a good stay at a...
Read moreThe location is a big plus, right on the main street with countless shops and restaurants. Our room was very spacious and clean and we were able to enjoy hot showers every day, which is important because it gets pretty cold at night due to the thin walls and windows, but you can ask them for an electric heater. There's a nice breakfast buffet including coffee, tea, some fresh juices and fruit, avocado, olives, cheese etc and free tea in the afternoon. But most importantly, the staff were some of the nicest people we met during our 3-week trip through the country. They picked us up personally from the bus terminal, carried our luggage to our room (there's no elevator unfortunately), arranged a nice one-day tour for us, and made sure we were okay when we were struggling with the altitude (provided oxygen, checked in on us the next day). All in all, great value for the given price! We definitely...
