My wife and I stayed here for only one day on our Peru Hop journey in between our tour of Lake Titicaca. We ate breakfast here, showered in one of the bathrooms within one of the hostels rooms and lounged in the main area for about 6 hours and we were pretty surprised with how filthy the hostel was, it was honestly pretty disgusting and there was random trash everywhere, it felt mildly like it was a hoarder's house. I'm not sure how this has 3 stars, I would say a more accurate rating would be 1 star to give people an accurate rating of what people are actually getting. When we went up to the bathroom to shower, the hostel bedroom was dusty and dirty with trash and seemed like it hadn't had a deep cleaning in years and the bathroom was pretty gross as well and also seems like it hadn't received a cleaning in some time as well.
I'm not sure if this is just the typical thing in Puno (we got the impression that it was as this city is pretty run down) or not, but I would recommend skipping Puno all together and going to Arequipa or...
Read moreI did not sleep here, but it was merely a stop for a Peru Hop tour. If I could give a zero rating, I would. We arrived early hours in the morning and had to wait here 2 hours for our tour to start. The waiting area was freezing The buffet breakfast at PEN 17 pp was a rip off. Dry bread and enough eggs made to feed about a third of the group there only. We opted to have a shower, and what a mistake that was. Towels we rented were so stained. Room we were offered to shower in was disgusting. Bins were full of trash (toilet paper, sanitary producta etc), floors were filthy, hair and mould everywhere in the bathroom. We noticed bite marks (assuming fleas?) on our legs after the shower Luggage storage was not secure. Anyone had access. Once we returned for our bags it looked like they have been moved and knocked around a bit.
