It's my first time to stay at this beautiful place in the heart of Dumaguete City. My family (wife and 2 kids) and I stayed here for 9 nights so I have quite a handful of things to say about this newly discovered gem in the City of gentle people . Before you continue reading, bear in mind that this is a little hotel with 3 floors and 22 rooms BUT with world class beds and amenities and tastefully decorated rooms and hallways!
Let me start with the lobby since that's where first impressions usually are made. Upon entering, you'd be met by a cool & clean atmosphere but with very warm smiles from the reception staff. Decorations and paintings hanging on the wall in this lobby look expensive and match the color of the very comfortable sofas. Checking in and checking out was a breeze.
Going up to our room on the 3rd floor, the 2 bedroom suite offers ample space for the 4 of us and our luggage. This room has been effectively divided into 3 parts - the living room, 1 big master bedroom with a king-size bed and a smaller bedroom with a double bed. This suite has 2 toilets and showers - 1 just beside the living room and 1 in the privacy of the big master bedroom. Each part of the suite (the living room, the small bedroom and the master bedroom) has its own separate split-type aircons that are efficient and very quiet. Flat screen TVs are also designated in the living room and 2 bedrooms. The beds, pillows, towels, bathrobes and linens are of high quality fabric and materials. You would only see these in 4 or 5 star hotels so it was a pleasant surprise to have these luxuries in a hotel this size. The super comfortable beds and pillows gave us a good night sleep and the dark draperies effectively blocked out daylight from seeping into the room. While many hotels are into carpeted floors, this hotel chose laminated wooden floors which enhance the elegance of the interior design. Besides, this type of floor is easier to clean and definitely more hygienic than those carpets.
The spacious and well-filled 7-11 shop on the ground floor which is in the same building is a big plus for this hotel. There, my wife and I could enjoy a freshly brewed cup of coffee and delicious snacks anytimeof the day or night! Alima Cafe situated in the building beside this hotel offers a variety of well made and mouth-watering food for breakfast lunch or dinner.
Coming from Sweden, I've always complained about the slow internet connection in the Philippines. Well, this hotel surprised me once again with their fast Wi-Fi connection! I've never experienced this fast and stable internet connection in the Philippines before and mind you, I've stayed in 4 and 5 star hotels too in Manila and Cebu but I dare say that the Wi-Fi connection offered in this hotel is the fastest I've ever experienced in this country.
Lastly (but definitely not the least), I want to commend the friendly management and all the hard-working staff who made sure that we had a delightful and safe stay. Thank you very much for your friendliness, helpfulness and service. You all made us feel so welcomed and at home with your kind greetings and pleasant smiles. All of you are an epitome of Filipino...
Read moreThe P4900/night (taxes included) I paid through Agoda was well worth the cost as I'd booked a last-minute two-bedroom suite which came with a kitchenette, a living and dining area, and best of all, two separate bathrooms! The online photos of the unit were also accurately portrayed - soothing blues and greige tones throughout, while the bathrooms were mostly white with black accents. And since we're not the most athletic sorts, we were relieved to find an efficient elevator onsite.
There was ample hot water for myself and my sister, and the water pressure was outstanding. Plus the wifi speed was pretty decent, and there were enough cable channels for those inclined. The usual amenities and toiletries were provided, and the aircons were also quite adequate for the size of the rooms in the unit. I was pleasantly comfortable, while my sister was practically a popsicle... lol...
All the hotel staff were very informative and accommodating. They really embodied hospitality. This compliment includes as well those in the lobby café who served us a late lunch when we arrived of chicken cutlets with a lemon cream sauce and rice for me and Swedish meatballs with gravy and rice for my sister.
We stayed in 307, and it was a nice, shaded corner unit which came with wonderful blackout curtains. One side faced the grassy sports complex of Silliman University, and the other faced a quiet side street off the main drag that also housed the government offices of the Department of Health.
Also, there are soooo many dining options within 10 minutes' drive or less because of its central location. And bonus, there is a 7Eleven immediately downstairs of the hotel which conveniently installed an ATM machine on the premises.
Only thing though, don't bother to bring a high-watt blow dryer because they don't work too well with the hotel's outlets. Just ask the staff to provide you one of their complimentary hair dryers for guests.
For those who come from bigger cities, be prepared to go about Dumaguete using public utility tricycles or the Grab Trikes if you are not renting or driving your own car. FYI, we had no issues parking in front of the main entrance of the hotel where their attentive guard looked after our vehicle.
This was a fantastic quick vacation to Dumaguete, and we didn't mind the drive from Bacolod too much. The few times we stopped along the way, we encountered friendly and helpful locals. I will definitely find an excuse to return to this lovlely coastal city and make a point to stay again at...
