A Delightful Breakfast by the Ocean – RedDoorz @ Tandikan Beach Cottages Review
If you’re looking for a breakfast experience in El Nido that combines flavor, freshness, and a breathtaking seaside view, then RedDoorz @ Tandikan Beach Cottages is an absolute must-visit. My recent visit to this hidden gem left me thoroughly impressed, and here’s why.
🌅 Location & Atmosphere: Breakfast with a View
Waking up to the gentle sound of waves and the refreshing ocean breeze is already a dreamlike experience, but pairing that with a hearty breakfast makes it unforgettable. RedDoorz @ Tandikan Beach Cottages offers seaside dining, where you can savor your meal just steps away from the beach, with an unobstructed view of El Nido’s stunning coastline. The relaxed, laid-back ambiance creates the perfect setting to start your day.
🍳 American Breakfast – A Classic Done Right
I opted for their American Breakfast, priced at 280 pesos, and I must say – it was a fantastic choice! The plate arrived fresh, hot, and beautifully presented, making it clear that the kitchen takes pride in quality. Here’s what made it special:
✔️ Perfectly Scrambled Eggs – Creamy, well-seasoned, and cooked to fluffy perfection. A simple dish, but one that can make or break a breakfast. Here, they nailed it.
✔️ Crispy, Golden Toast – Lightly buttered, with a subtle crunch that pairs perfectly with their homemade fruit jam.
✔️ Bacon & Sausage Combo – Crispy, smoky bacon alongside a well-seasoned sausage, offering the perfect balance of salty and savory goodness.
✔️ Fresh Tropical Fruits – A lovely touch that brings brightness to the meal, reminding you that you’re in a paradise of fresh produce.
✔️ Rich Local Coffee – Smooth, aromatic, and strong enough to wake you up without being overpowering.
Everything was served at the right temperature, with attentive and friendly service, making the whole experience even more enjoyable.
✨ What Makes It Stand Out?

Unlike crowded cafés, here you can enjoy a quiet, scenic breakfast, listening to the waves while sipping on fresh coffee.

Despite being a simple meal, the ingredients were fresh, portions generous, and everything was cooked to perfection.

Read moreI was GRANDPAcking in El Nido for 10 nights.||I quickly moved out of the El Taraw Inn (which I do not recommend) after just 1 night.||I scoured the streets and, finally, booked into the Tandikan Beach Cottages for 8 nights at PHP1000 / night including breakfast.||Getting a reasonable breakfast included in your hotel price is important.||The ‘cheapest’ simple breakfast (a tomato & onion omelette with toast) starts at PHP170 on the streets. A coffee will cost you another PHP65! That is at least PHP235 for breakfast.||The breakfast at the Tanikan changes each day.||The Tandikan also provides a flask of hot water and 2 free coffee sachets. You find it sitting on a table outside your room at 7am each morning.||Pop down to the supermarket and pick up a pack of 36 x 2g sachets of nescafe for PHP60 (the cost of 1 coffee in a restaurant)… and you have unlimited free coffee every morning.||This means that the Tandikan saved me over PHP250 / day on breakfast… this, effectively, brought the ‘room rate’ down from PHP1000 to PHP750. This makes the room rate more acceptable.||Don’t expect much from places like the Tandikan though. These places aren’t the most ‘organised’. When the ‘boss lady’ isn’t around, the service falls apart… there won’t be any hot water waiting outside your room in the morning, you have to ask for breakfast (and wait a while), you have to ask for your room to be cleaned…||It is what it is… but, you are on the beach.||You won't get wifi in your room but they do have wifi in the seating area at reception.||Overall though, the Tandikan was very good value for money (for El Nido).||The staff were nice and the location...

I got the front cabin near the beach and I was ok with 2000php for the night. ||First five women sat in front of the window and talked loudly for three hours. The the power goes out and the generator still isn't working. Then the internet goes out "because they don't have load" on their "My-Fi" pocket internet. Then I ask for 500pesos back because I was paying extra for AC (power was out). They said the power would be back on at 5, by 8om it had just been restored.||My AC came back on and then they shut it off because I didn't pay for it. Somehow not having internet and power all day wasn't their problem and customer service isn't a thing they know about.||There's one plug in the room and one of the two inlets was broken so it was either a fan or taking turns charging devices. ||I told them to either turn the AC on or fix the plug. They gave me an extension cord. Why didn't I pay the 500pesos to have the AC back on? Because it's too small and the fan is better than the AC. ||There's no hot water, no bottled water in the room or any other things you'd expect in a hotel room.||After I confronted the manager again about the internet and power she tried to hand me back my money and told me to go find a place that has power and wifi. It was 10pm and I needed to do some remote work and the only reception is by the street. ||This is my second time in El Nido, the place has gone down significantly over the last two years.
