Lukay Resort Siargao — Hotel in General Luna

We had a private room booked for 4 nights and when we turned up, we instantly decided to move accommodation. The room was damp and depressing and the walls are stained and mouldy. The pictures are extremely misleading and don’t show you the state of the room and communal areas (also pretty grim), i believe they were taken years ago when the property must have been renovated or decorated.

I understand that it may be one of the cheaper accommodations in the area but you could definitely find better for the same price. We spoke with the receptionist who was helpful and understanding of us wanting to leave but couldn’t help in confirming we could get a refund. When we tried contacting the manager, it took ages for her to reply and she said she also needed to speak to the owner about the refund, who we understood to be in Europe. After speaking to the lady at the front desk, manager and reading the reviews, I think this happens often!

Despite the lack of reception staff, the hostel seemed okay at first. However, once we were finally greeted by someone who seemed to work there we were allowed to check in, the room smelt damp and the sheets were dirty. However, we still believed it to be manageable. (Even despite the cold dirty showers). All of which were manageable and potentially expectable for the price. However, we were forced to move from this hostel before the intended check out date as a result of rats. Not only could we hear them all night, they had been in the room eating our clothes, with droppings and dirt covering the floor and our belongings. No refund or anyone to even raise this issue with present at the hostel. DO...

The people at this place are super friendly and whenever I reached out with questions they responded very quickly! I give this 4 stars instead of 5 because the place is not completed yet so the facilities weren’t the best yet. For instance the drink-water was empty a couple of times. As soon as the place is completed and all the facilities are up and running we will definitely stay here again!

Little advice: bring earplugs! There are a lot of dogs and roosters on the island and they make a lot of noise throughout the night! The room has thin walls so you will be bothered by it. Also the bar nextdoor sometimes has loud music so...
