I can’t say ENOUGH ABOUT THIS PLACE!!!
ALTROVE in Surigao
First of all they have a no shoe policy so the wood shiny floors are always clean, it’s a nice feeling to the bottoms of your feet, a real grounding feeling. This is my second night here in a row eating the same thing the “Frutti di Mare” a seafood pasta with octopus, squid, and shrimp in a tomato-based sauce with garlic butter and a splash of white wine. “DELICIOUS” With a glass of Merlot Red. Only 350 Piso which is $9 Canadian. CRAZY gourmet Italian food at a great price!!! The lighting, ambiance and music in this place are amazing almost feels SPA like. They even have an area that is risen with nice cushions to sit on the floor and a low table. Japanese style, Very cute! The staff are great very attentive, you’re never having to wait or look for a server, the plates are cleared as soon as you finish your meal, and I notice as soon as people leave there table, everyone helps each other clean the table which takes no more then 15 seconds, The table turnover is very quick and it amazes me to watch them all help each other and work together, there is never a dirty table lol. Makes me think why people in Canada can’t be more like this. The owner “Dejan” whom is from Slovakia, is great he greeted me upon arrival both nights and sat me himself, he actually remembered exactly what I ordered the first night and asked if I wanted to same thing, which I did lol. He is very personable, always on the floor checking in with the tables making sure everything is running smoothly. This place is a “10” They also do take out, I overheard someone call the owners personal phone ordering lasagna, prosciutto pizza and a bottle of white wine. They have a location in El Nido Unfortunately did not visit because of the long lineups all the time, but to be honest the ambiance in the Surigao location, I just love it... Like I Always say the crew can only be as good as it’s Captain.... Oh and the homemade “ice cream” “lord have mercy....Thank you for delivering a great experience all around, by the way check out the toilet roll holder in the bathroom, lol I just love it I’m trying to find it to buy!!! Lol
As for the one negative review about this place, about the guy complaining that he had to take his shoes off,,, I remember you! You were extremely rude and embarrassing all of your friends telling the owner F&!@ YOU F&!@ YOU!!!! Real classy! You must be American, think your entitled throwing a tantrum because you had to take off your dirty shoes and couldn’t get your way.......
Read moreIn my 4 days and 3 nights stay in Siargao, this was probably the worst restaurant I ever dined in!
The waiter wasn't listening to me while I was giving my food order, he was literally staring at the group right across me in a cabana. I had to tell him off to focus and listen.
It wasn't enough that he was staring at me, he was probably just pretending to listen because he wasn't able to follow through my instructions. I was already asking for my bill when he asked m if I still want my second beer to be served. I instructed him to serve it together with the pizza. The first one was served while I was waiting for my food.
Ambience doesn't help. It was like a vacant lot and a garage hurriedly fenced up with bamboo... And that's it.
I usually order the simplest and most basic pizza - Margherita Pizza, my gauge if the establishment is really a good Italian pizza place. The pizza came without the basil leaves.
When my order of 1 ltr of bottled water arrived (they don't have service water), I think they expected me to drink directly from the bottle! I had to tell the waiter off that it is not a good way to serve drinks.
When I approached the pizza maker, and a lady at that, to give my feedback, she was just smiling, coming across as unapologetic. You know how attitude ruins an establishment, no matter how confident you are with the quality of your food!
Not worth visiting again. Worst pizza place for me. Food may be good but a restaurant isn't just...
Read moreWas disappointed by the overall experience. This restaurant has multiple locations and I had tried it in El Nido and it was great so I had high expectations.
The pizza (margherita) was average. Very very greasy, not much flavour.
I ordered a beer and immediately asked for a glass because the rim of the bottle was coated in rust. They said they didnt have glasses and instead gave me a paper cup. I asked for cutlery to eat the pizza (because of how oily it was), and I was given a disposable wooden knife and fork which was useless.
The staff were fairly inattentive and not really paying attention to the customers but instead laughing and chatting at the front of the restaurant (I dont have a problem with this but it's frustrating to have to stand up and wave everytime you need something).
Finally there were a LOT of rats running around. Due to the outdoor nature of the restaurant it's not totally unexpected that there would be rats, but there were a lot running around the seating area and close to...
