Barbosa Siargao — Restaurant in General Luna

We had an interesting experience here... First and foremost, the atmosphere, music and design of the space is super nice.

We went on a Friday night two hours ahead of the weekly party. The menu consists of snacks, which I want to reinforce are truly snack-size. Me, a 90kg human would probably need 5-6 dishes to feel close to satisfied...

Unfortunately, the service was below par (although the waitresses were polite and kind), having to ask repeatedly where the missing dishes and drinks were. It honestly seemed like no one knew what was going on.

The hunger coupled with the missing dishes became frustrating, to be told an hour after ordering that what we were waiting on had been given to another table and there was no more... Then told (kindly) "Come back tomorrow if you wish to try that dish".

Insult to injury, the manager was prompt to remind us that the tables needed to be moved for the dancefloor with no regard to the missing food and drinks.

Kind...

Went for a drink with my partner. I was immediately ushered away from a seated table by the manager, who stated I needed to pay 5000 pesos to use the table. The manager briefly mentioned that later on they would clear chairs away to make room for a party, but invited me to drink at the bar.

I was half-way through my drink, sat at the bar with my partner, when a member of staff asked us to leave our chair and stand up. We kindly explained that we were still drinking and would appreciate finishing the drink before we left our chair. Unfortunately, the manager came to instruct us to leave our seats. After explaining that it was unprofessional to demand paying customers to leave their seats whilst still drinking, the manager insisted she had already warned us about this and did not offer an apology. One of the few restaurants I've ever been to that (nearly) has it all! Best spot on the island overall by far. Amazingly flavourful food, sweet and professional staff, beautiful interiors with a local character as well as an amazing vibe in the evening with fantastic DJs (and we were there on a random Wednesday night in the low / rainy season in January!).

Only the cocktail was a bit underwhelming - too little alcohol and punch flavour-wise in it for my taste, but maybe the other ones are better... The other thing missing is a nice view, but you really don't miss that in this place thanks to all the other great factors.

Either way hoping this place will be able to keep up the food, service and music quality - we'll...
