This place is lit! The owners are very accommodating and kind. They suggested that we should go to the cave first and not go hiking to see the sunrise since the weather is cold so nobody can see the sunrise, which they said that it usually happens during December - January. Also, they suggested that if we really want to see the sunrise better come back during the summer season so the fog will not cover the sunrise. And thankfully, we did what manong suggested and change our plans with our tour guide because when we went out of the cave, a lot of our fellow tourists were complaining that they woke up at 3 am just to see the sunrise but was met with disappointment. Tips from the owners: Tip 1: during peak season especially December better go spelunking early in the morning to be able to see the real beauty of the caves and take unlimited photos without other groups waiting for there. At the same time, if you go to the cave around lunch time and beyond they might not let you enter since the cave is full and cannot accommodate all tourists. Tip 2: buy a SAGAS TICKET during December 27-29 to enjoy a hike to Marlboro and Blue Soil mountain and get to experience a traditional bon fire all for 300 pesos/ person instead of...
Read moreAvailed the room with 1 queen and 1 single bed, with a 3-person maximum occupany. Facilities are well-maintained. Oddly there was no wifi connection around 10pm. Food can be reheated in the kitchen behind the front office/reception. It is 700m away from the Tourist Info Center where you pay Php40. Almost 5-stars. Only that (1) the walls are not soundproof and I could hear naughty couples doing their business! I know they paid for their rooms but ugh I just want to be able to rest well after spending the whole day trekking, hiking and (almost) rock climbing in Sumaguing cave. Then (2) the way to the main entrance is difficult to access. Path was rocky, unpaved and quite steep.
Bonus: dogs there are quite tame. We always get greeted by this cream white aspin/mutt/mixed breed dog.
If my cons don't bother you then this is worth...
Read moreThis place is secluded and boasts scenic views(priceless!) and a very laidback setting. There are no tvs here so expect minimal noise and more time for yourself and your roommates. The rooms are clean and comfy, price is budget friendly. They have a mini store, a common kitchen and ref so if you prefer, you can shop from the local market/stalls nearby and cook for your friends and love ones. The owner, kuya Oscar and his wife are very approachable, you can ask them for tips about Sagada. You can also buy homemade whole wheat breads on your way to the lodge(a few walks away). There are nearby restaurants/bars such as Shamrock Tavern and Rockwall Inn that you can try which have less crowd and serves local cuisines. I will definitely stay here again on my next visit. Tip: the rooms are situated on several floors, so...
