A homestay with freedom built on it
Roger's Place Gay Guesthouse could be your typical affordable and a seemingly ordinary homestay in Boracay. Away from the hustle and bustle of white beach, it is nestled in Bantud which offers a private and different view of the greeneries of the island. From Cagban port, it is less than a 10-minute e-trike ride and from the main road, you will take a mini trek which should be a normal thing for gay men.
Roger and Mar, who are the adorable owners of this three-bedroom homestay will welcome you and assist you during your stay. They knew that their place had nothing special to offer unlike the big hotels surrounding the island but when you get to know them, their dedication and service to their guests is what makes their humble abode a space free from the cautious stares of closeted minds.
The three rooms are airconditioned and have its own relatively spacious comfort rooms. The two rooms facing the main road offer a panoramic view of the island and it’s like going in for a retreat. If you feel the need to quiet up your mind and breathe, you can explore their roof deck. It could be a good place to practice yoga, with or without your clothes on. Bask in the sun without wearing any fabric and embrace your body positively.
The breakfast that they prepare is personally prepared by Mar and they could be your typical meal but it has an innovative take on the fried rice and scrambled egg. When you feel like you’re still hungover from whatever you did last night, their coffee will take you back to the present and it will make you repent for the sins that you have committed. LOL.
Breakfast is the best time to meet your fellow gay-mates and it’s a good opportunity to share and hear stories and when it’s time to leave, you realize that most of the time, the stories, and experiences that you’ve had in their place are what makes your...
Read moreIf you truly want to get away from it all, this is the place to come. The resort is on the side of the Island away from the ticky tak tourist spots. 'massage, massage' 'Hey mister, you like food? we have ....' You get the drill. I am working while here remotely but taking full advantage of the place. There is a guest kitchen so I prepare at least one meal a day here. I take walks, go to the beach (just minutes away by foot) I have been reading books and using the roof terrace. I am getting Vitamin D from the sun, and stress relief for my brain. I am very happy I made the choice to come here...now excuse me I need to go to the roof and read a few...
Read moreWe booked 2 days before and stayed 7 at the end. Very nice rooms (changed in between due to other reservation) The couple running the place is very nice, helpful and welcoming... it was an island of peace from very busy Boracay and we spend some mornings on the roof top sunbathing naked with a view of the island and ocean. Not to forget the amazing breakfast you can order with a variety of choices lovingly prepared by the couple that runs the guesthouse. I am sorry for all the...
