My best friend and I stayed at OLA! hostel during our trip to the Philippines and our stay was fantastic! Our room was brand new, very clean and the air conditioner kept us nice and cool. The bathroom was very clean and the one thing which was slightly spraying water was fixed within the next few hours. The walls were funky, and vibrant. Excellent location, close to the airport. The staff were extremely accommodating and friendly. One individual, Christian, helped me download the "grab" taxi app and helped me use it. He was constantly around to check up on my friend and I. We arrived on Monday but had plans to travel to Buscalan, and travel back to the hostel. Christian allowed us to leave our extra baggage at the hostel while we were away - the best part was when we returned we were treated like family who have come for a reunion, or neighbours. We immediately were put at ease and were super comfortable. We spent most of our time back in the hostel as it was the last few days of relaxing after constantly travelling around. We chilled out on the rooftop hangout. What a beautiful place! That was the place to be for good music, for checking messages (It has wifi), to meet others staying in the hostel and mostly eat the delicious food they cooked! I highly recommend their fluffy pancakes, potato balls and their pad thai! We are so thankful for them! I would definitely stay at Ola Hostel again and would...
Read moreI liked this hostel! The light breakfast was actually a normal size breakfast (eggs, 2 toast slices, 3 apple slices, some sort of sausage-like meat), not big but a great portion size if you're coming from other south east asian countries like Thailand or Indonesia where the portions are the size of a candy bar. I arrived 9pm and they gave me a free drink coupon, but if you arrive earlier you get unlimited free drinks 6-7pm and that's a fun time.
I had 8 bed dorm and it was very spacious with toilet and shower inside the room. Water refill at the end of the hall also. I heard from others that their dorm was not as spacious and the beds were separated by thin wood. But mine wasn't like that. No curtains. There's a common area at the lobby area that also looks like a nice place to relax. Security guard has you sign in and locals who visit the bar also have to sign in. Some regulars at the bar are fun. You can play beer pong also.
There's a 7-11 like 7 minutes walk away, but it's not great. If you walk further across the street where the train station is, behind exit 2 for the train is a much better 7-11 with more hot foods stocked. Alfamart very close to the hostel also with hot food, but small selection. I didn't like the street at night, a lot of shady-looking people. During the day, it's not so bad. But I think that's common in...
