If you're going to pick a Subic hotel that's without a beach, then prefer to stay at MG Grand Hotel for convenience & great value. As expected on a weekend, it's difficult to reserve your preferred room as it's always fully booked. We ended up squeezing ourselves in a family room of two queen beds for 4 adults+2 children. The room(#332) is clean with a balcony overlooking the road & shops.
Hotel is right behind a Royal Duty Free mall and you can walk to restaurants & coffee shops located across the block. Good thing there's also a 5min walk to a convenience store (Uncle John's).
A pool that's 2ft high is available for kids. And you can also enjoy drinks at the bars beside their adult pool (5ft-high). Maybe improve the pool water quality as I think it is not that chlorinated.
I have to commend their restaurant (MG Gastropub) as it serves delicious food qith great portions. For a Filipino, a plate of pasta can fit for 2 people already and the tacos I ordered are also too many for 1 person. No kiddie food choices. Price ranges from 350-600 per meal but you can share as a couple per plate.
Room is clean with hot shower but we had to still request for towels as they only provided 2pcs for a 4pax room. My only.complaint is thr airconditioning as our room(#332) seems to cool very slow. Also, the free wifi is non-existent in our room even if they provided us access. So I had to use my own phone data the whole duration of the trip. This is something to think about for business travelers & need for them to choose the room location for best internet signal.
Guests are a mix of families, couple travelers, soldiers from the base & some businessmen. The hallways are quiet despite of this.
Overall it was a nice stay & I'll still go back if...
Read moreBy far the best hotel in Olongapo/Subic! It’s modern, stylish and very clean. Staff is wonderful, friendly, and accommodating. The location is great; it’s close to so many restaurants, bars like Pier One, markets like Royal Duty Free, and malls like Harbor Point (Ayala). They offer transportation (taxi) if you need it. Check-out is 12 noon but if available, they are willing to extend complimentary based on their availability. I booked the Deluxe Executive initially for just a night but because we enjoyed our stay so much, we ended up staying for a total of 3 nights. The room has a balcony, rain shower, regular shower, a bidet for the toilet, safe, mini fridge, cable TV, in-room dining, instant coffee and tea, hot water kettle, in-room amenities like dental kit, vanity kit, sewing kit, laundry service, etc. They also have complimentary Buffet breakfast everyday from 6-10 AM. Their breakfast varies daily but has pastry, egg, and French toast station. Their customer service is exceptional! They do their best to make you feel very special! One of my favorite parts of the hotel was the infinity pool and the bar right next to it. It has views of the bay and parts of the city from a high floor. My favorite part is the $3 margaritas (P150 each) and how great the foods are from their menu. It has a variety of options from Filipino to American food. Evening hours, although, often come with noise from across the street due to close proximity to Pier One. Nonetheless, I highly recommend this hotel whether you’re visiting for business...

During our phone call, I specifically asked if the breakfast was buffet-style, not plated. I even double-checked to be sure. She confidently assured me that it would be a full buffet.||However, on the day of what was supposed to be a relaxing vacation — something I was really looking forward to after a stressful week and recovering from a medical procedure — we were shocked to find out that the breakfast was plated, not buffet as promised.||When I brought this up, the account manager was extremely rude and unprofessional. She was dismissive, disrespectful, and even made faces during our conversation. I found her behavior unacceptable, especially for someone in a customer-facing role.||A word of advice to future guests: If you still plan to book here, I recommend recording any phone conversations with the staff, especially when dealing with this particular account manager named GE.Unfortunately, my experience has made it clear that verbal assurances may not be reliable.||To the hotel management: Thank you for turning what could have been a restful and healing vacation into a deeply frustrating and upsetting one. Your account manager G*E truly failed in providing even basic...
