We stayed at the Roman Empire Hotel in Panglao, Bohol, and unfortunately, our experience was very disappointing. Upon check-in, no one explained the details of our accommodation or the limitations of our booking. This led to confusion on our second day during breakfast. Our booking included free breakfast. When we arrived at the dining area, a buffet was set up, and six of us already got food. But when the last two in our group approached the buffet, a staff member abruptly told us we were only entitled to a plated breakfast—not buffet. This should have been communicated at check-in or, at the very least, before any of us began getting food. Instead, we were called out halfway through the meal in front of other guests. It was embarrassing and completely avoidable if the staff had briefed us properly. The room was also dimly lit and lacked basics like a bathroom door mat. Since there was no telephone in the room, I had to go to the front desk myself to request one, and even then, it took over 45 minutes to be delivered. The hotel also only provides one key card per room, which was inconvenient, especially when you're sharing with someone. The location is also misleading. It’s not a 5-minute walk to the beach—it’s about a 5-minute drive and then another 5-10 minutes of walking, and only to Alona Beach. On our fourth day, I found a pakaw (the metal backing of an earring) in my scrambled eggs. I immediately clarified that it couldn’t have been mine as I was wearing earrings that don't require a pakaw—and I even showed them to the staff to avoid any false assumptions. They apologized and offered to replace my food, but I declined and simply asked them to take the plate away. This is unacceptable and raises serious concerns about cleanliness and food safety. Overall, the service was poor, the staff seemed untrained and unprofessional, and the entire stay fell short of even basic hospitality standards. I can not recommend this hotel unless serious improvements are made.

Brand new hotel. Looks nice. Have big pool and access to pool from 1st floor rooms balcony. Restaurant at high price, have european menu items. Spa available. Rental bikes available for higher price 500PHP per day. In room very good organized power outlets and light switches. Cleanness. Unfortunately, not everything is good. Cheating in a restaurant, diluted with juice water. Shakes is just a water too. In my room problem with keycard sensor. I think, previous guests used paper for sealing keycard in holder. The staff sees this and does not even think about changing. There are only two contacts and two screws. I saw that in the evening one couple moved to another room. I think that because of these problems. The staff is all very young, seemingly no older than 20 years. It is evident that they are trying, but it turns out not so good. Therefore, the service is not high level. The bathroom is so small that if you stand facing the sink, you need to put one foot on the toilet. In the evening I saw a centipede on the floor in the room. Super economy shower, need push and hold button for water. 5-10 seconds and water stopped. Only one keycard, only one breakfast coupon, inconvenient for two people. Cash only deposit. Located in no cellular coverage area. And hotel Wi-Fi has very weak signal power. In room no Wi-Fi near front door, only near balcony. Under construction, noise. Do not pay for this hotel a lot, buy only if you see big discounts. This hotel good for 1-2 days staying only.

Location: Near the airport. I think travel time is less than 10 minutes. The drivers are on time and with an additional fee for pick up and drop off services, just inform them that you wanted to avail these services. Rooms: It's clean and spacious. The AC is automatic. When the balcony door is open it will turn off. It has a refrigerator, with a safety box, with an electric kettle, with free water (2 bottles), coffee, creamer and sugar for 2 pax, with towels and shampoo and bath soap. No slippers and I suggest to have a doormat or rags in the toilet. However, the neighboring room guest are loud. There was a door near the balcony door, looks like adjoining door to the next room, they keep on knocking it. 😒😡 Service: Fast and accomodating. The receptionist are nice. The people assigned in the bar are active and dependable. 🧡 On our 1st day the AC was not functioning well, i had to call someone to check it. And they fix the problem. However on our 2nd day, at around 7 or 8pm, the electicity went off twice. The 1st one is quick but the 2nd time it lasted 13:12:21 minutes before the power went back. Pool: is okay. Food: is great. Each serving is good for sharing for 2 pax. I will recommend this resort if you just want to take a rest or relax before heading to tje airport. 😎

Firstly I must say this is a beautiful looking resort with impressive fixtures and pool area. We enjoyed the first few days of our stay which were peaceful.

Unfortunately I am having to leave a negative review due to multiple bad experiences when staying and particularly the attitude of the front desk staff in relation to these.

The first issue we had was the kettle in our room. After filling it up and switching it on the water started seeping out of the bottom. There was a hole by one of the screw points. I didn't notice this until the point that there was boiling water everywhere all over the surface of my room and upon trying to switch the kettle off and safely remove it from the wall I received a small electric shock from the static. I took the kettle downstairs and was brought a replacement along with some more coffee which I requested. However I was declined more coffee later that evening when I asked for it and told I must go to the bar in the morning for coffee. Considering this was our third day here and I had only asked for replacement coffee for the room on one occassion and had gone through the inconvenience of the kettle situation I was a little disappointed with this.

There also didn't appear to be an active cleaning schedule of any kind for guests staying. When we needed items for the room such as toilet roll, coffee and fresh towels we needed to ask for them. Yes they have a light to "make up my room" but I still don't understand why daily room services are not the norm as is the case for the rest of the world.

Finally the biggest issue we had was in the early hours of the thursday morning into our 1 week stay. We were woken at 3.30am and the individuals in the room next to us were shouting, playing loud music, banging and to all intense of purposes behaving like animals. We were kept awake until 6am during which time I had complained to the security guard on duty downstairs. When I approached him at around 4.30am he was sat in the chair next to the lobby asleep. I woke him and he made an effort to stop the noise however it was not sufficient as the noise continued.

The individuals also were banging on our room door at one point during the morning and sounded as if they were highly intoxicated or on drugs.

I appreciate this is not something the resort and the establishment can control, however what really disappointed me was the reaction of the lady on the front desk (the same lady who had refused me coffee) after telling her what had happen she very abruptly asked me "what do you want me to do for you" she then advised me that the individuals were checking out today.

Well... Firstly lady some form of apology would have been nice. Secondly considering we are staying in the resort for a week and we hadn't slept the last night maybe some form of small reimbursement would have been appreciated... But no, nothing. I had to walk away due to the fact I was so angry but my girlfriend complained further, the lady then finally apologized and said she would check the camera as there should have only been 2 individuals in the room next to us but it sounded as if there were 5 minimum.

My final issue was after speaking with a fellow holiday maker I found out that they were given a cheaper price of 990 pesos per night whereas we were paying 1,400. This only irritated me further and unfortunately we are leaving unhappy rather than with happy memories.

To summarise it is a beautiful resort but customer service is seriously lacking and staff seem to have an apparent lack of empathy towards their customers. I hope you guys will read this and take this feedback on board rather than reply with smart and smarmy remarks as I seen you have done with...

I won’t give any stars to this resort it was truly a very bad experience staying here. Before this, my mom would always book at your resort because it used to be a nice place with good staff and service. Unfortunately, this time was completely different and very disappointing. It all started when I saw your new offer to all customers, which included free nail services like manicure and pedicure. Of course, I was interested, so I asked one of your staff if I could have my nails cleaned. Instead of accommodating me, she just ignored me and told me to come back tomorrow. I understood, since that was my first time asking, so I didn’t mind waiting. However, when I went back the next day, she again said “tomorrow.” I was expecting that I could finally avail of the service, but I was once again brushed aside. I felt ignored as if I wasn’t even a guest of the resort. This happened repeatedly, and each time I asked, I was dismissed and treated as though my request wasn’t important. What made it even more humiliating was when the nail staff even asked me if I was really staying at the resort. I was shocked by this question why would I even ask for the service if I wasn’t a guest? That moment made me feel truly disrespected and embarrassed. On top of that, it was clear that your staff treated foreign guests much better than Filipinos like me. This kind of discrimination and lack of proper customer service is unacceptable. I am truly disappointed by how unprofessional and unwelcoming your staff were during my stay. What was once a resort my family trusted has now turned into a place I would not recommend to anyone. I hope you take this complaint seriously and work on improving the way you treat your guests especially your...
