Experienced a lengthy check-in process despite a smooth experience for previous guests. Waited 50 minutes just to check-in.
Disadvantages and Areas for Improvement: The room lacked complimentary amenities like water or coffee, providing only two empty cups. (Note: A water dispenser is available near the elevators.) There was no heating kettle in the room. The bathroom shower had weak water pressure, especially on the upper floors. The bidet faucet had minor leaks despite the hotel being newly built. Disposable slippers were not provided; guests need to bring their own. It was challenging to contact the hotel management as there was no intercom or telephone in the room, and no contact information was provided inside the room for addressing concerns. (Note: When attempting to call the provided landline number on their website, we were connected to their Ermita Branch, which provided their Viber and landline number.) The hallway areas lacked proper ventilation and were excessively hot, except for the lobby. Despite all air conditioning units being new, the air conditioning was inadequate. Even at the maximum settings (18 degrees Celsius and maximum fan), the room temperature remained uncomfortable and unevenly distributed. Despite leaving the air conditioning on for two hours before contacting management, the room remained uncomfortably hot, especially during the day. Additionally, the air conditioning was only cold in the lobby. Upon requesting maintenance to check the air conditioning, we were informed that the unit's inefficiency was due to the hot weather outside and its newness. However, we found this explanation unsatisfactory, as we have experienced quicker cooling times in just 30 minutes to 1 hr on other hotels and at home. Despite being transferred to another room, the air conditioning issue persisted. Commended the hotel's affordability, convenient location, and security measures. Appreciated comfortable bedding, furnishings, and the provision of a late check-out option. First and foremost, cleanliness was outstanding. The entire property, from the lobby to the rooms, was spotless, making it a comfortable and refreshing place to stay. The housekeeping team did a great job in maintaining hygiene, and everything felt well-maintained. The beddings were of high quality, soft, and comfortable, which made my sleep very restful. After a long day of travel and exploring, having a cozy and well-prepared bed was definitely a highlight. The pillows were just right—not too firm or too soft—providing excellent support. As a Hop Inn Reward Gold Member, I am able to check-in early at around 9am (subject to availability) & check-out late at 4pm (guaranteed). Just like the other Hop Inn Hotels in Metro Manila I've been to, it's very clean, cool, and comfy.
Although it does not supply bottled water (due to a city ordinance prohibiting it from giving out water in plastic PET bottles), nevertheless, each floor lobby has its own water dispenser (hot & cold), and each room has 2 glasses to drink from. In my case, I just always bring my own pitcher (covered carafe) to fetch water from said dispenser (see photo of the table). In this way, Hop Inn Hotel & I are able to help in reducing plastic waste & protecting the environment.
Responsive & responsible customer service (front desk, housekeeping & security). Strategic location (just beside MRT-3 North Avenue Station & Uncle John's convenience store; across Trinoma Mall, Ayala Vertis North Mall & SM City North EDSA; 5-min. walking distance from Mercury Drugstore, 7-Eleven & Savemore Supermarket).
