Title: A Culinary Journey at Soban: Where Tradition Meets Innovation
Rating: ★★★★☆ (4/5)
Nestled in the heart of the city, Soban offers a unique culinary experience that seamlessly blends tradition with innovation. As a connoisseur of Korean cuisine, my recent visit to Soban left a lasting impression, showcasing a delicate balance of flavors, impeccable presentation, and a commitment to authenticity.
The ambiance at Soban is warm and inviting, with a touch of contemporary elegance. The traditional Korean elements in the decor provide a cultural immersion, while the modern accents create a comfortable and stylish dining environment. The staff, clad in traditional attire, exude warmth and professionalism, enhancing the overall dining experience.
Soban's menu is a gastronomic delight, featuring a diverse selection of dishes that cater to both the purists and those seeking a modern twist. The banchan (side dishes) served before the main course were a symphony of flavors, from the tangy kimchi to the savory Japchae, each dish showcasing the chef's attention to detail.
For the main course, the Galbi (marinated short ribs) stole the show with its succulent and tender meat, perfectly grilled to enhance the rich flavors of the marinade. The Bibimbap, a classic Korean mixed rice dish, was a delightful medley of textures and tastes, featuring fresh vegetables, savory meat, and a perfectly fried egg on top.
Soban also boasts an impressive selection of traditional Korean drinks, including a variety of Soju options and Makgeolli, a traditional rice wine. The attentive staff was knowledgeable in suggesting pairings, adding an extra layer to the overall dining experience.
While the menu at Soban excels in delivering classic Korean dishes, it also takes bold steps in innovation. The fusion dishes, such as the Kimchi Pizza and Bulgogi Tacos, showcase the chef's creativity without compromising the authenticity of the flavors. However, some may argue that these innovations could be polarizing for purists.
In terms of pricing, Soban falls within the mid to high range, reflecting the quality of ingredients and the culinary expertise showcased in each dish. The portion sizes are generous, ensuring that even the heartiest appetite will leave satisfied.
In conclusion, Soban is a gem in the culinary landscape, offering a harmonious blend of traditional Korean flavors and contemporary innovation. Whether you're a seasoned fan of Korean cuisine or a newcomer eager to explore, Soban promises a memorable dining experience that will leave you...
Read moreFood is definitely tasty according to my liking when we went there yesterday evening. They don't have unlimited offerings but they offer only as set or package. But the side dishes of our chosen set are unlimited. The set we ordered is good for 4 and the amount was more than what I expected. Food order must be according to the number of adults in your group. We are 4 adults and 4 children, but my 14 and 10 years old were already counted as eating adults. As per their counting we are 6 eating adults and the set we ordered is only good for 4, hence we need to order for 2 more ala carte for the other 2 eating adults. A little bit complicated system and maybe misunderstood by others, but for us it is not an issue. We understand it from business side of things. Anyway it took us at least 40 minutes before we had the long table available for us. They only have 2 long tables, that must be the reason for the waiting time. My only comment is that the size of the long table cannot accommodate all our food orders, not enough space. But all in all, it is our first time eating here and the food did...

Free Side Dishes: 🥬 Kimchi — love the kimchi, but I think it lacks a bit of sweetness from 🍐 or 🍎 🍳 Egg Roll — a cold dish, but pairs so well with the soup! 😋 🍖 Beef Bone Marrow Soup — so soo goood!! I expected it to be oily, but it's actually not! 🤤 (enjoyed it too much while waiting, had soo many rounds 😆😆)
🥘 Beef Kimchi Fried Rice — medyo nabitin sa rice, but generous on the beef. Sad thing is we didn't know there's an option for beef marinade (overlooked from the menu and server failed to mention, huhu). But plain seasoned wasn't bad.
🍨 Yuja Ice Cream [available for a limited time only] — it's always worth trying limited item products, never fail you most of the time! I love how they turned Korean honey citron into an ice cream version 🤯🤯
🥃 Margarita-K — wanted to try the Melona Mirage, but it wasn't available :'( opted for their other signature cocktails. I can't believe I'm saying this, I might be a margarita girl 😆 it's my most ordered cocktail in any restaurant...
