My recent stay at Solaire North with my parents was a mix of truly outstanding accommodations and unfortunately underwhelming service at the front desk and concierge.

Let’s start with the positives, which were many:

Surprise Room Upgrade: We were pleasantly surprised with a complimentary room upgrade from Deluxe to Grand Deluxe. There was also a complimentary birthday cake for my dad. These made a huge difference in our stay and were genuinely appreciated.

Valet Service: The complimentary valet was seamless and hassle-free.

Room Quality: The room offered a breathtaking view, and attention to cleanliness was evident throughout. The shades, curtains, and carpets were spotless and well-maintained, both in the room and throughout the hallways.

Housekeeping Excellence: Special thanks to the housekeeping team, who went above and beyond — they ensured we had plenty of drinking water throughout our stay and efficiently set up an extra bed. Their warmth and professionalism stood out.

Room Comfort: We've stayed at several 5-star hotels in Manila, and this is by far the best room we've experienced in terms of comfort and cleanliness.

However, our stay was dampened by poor service at the concierge and reception, which needs serious improvement:

During check-in, my dad’s birthday cake was confiscated and held at the concierge. I wasn’t assisted properly when I approached to inquire — one staff member was on the phone, and the other stayed glued to their computer screen, ignoring me. I was also handed the wrong form initially and had to point it out myself before receiving the correct one.

Upon check-out, we discovered the cake had not been placed inside a refrigerator. Fortunately, it didn’t melt, but the lack of accountability from staff was disappointing. Instead of an apology, I was told they would "ask the person who received it yesterday" if they followed instructions. No ownership, no real concern.

The receptionist nearest the elevators during check-out seemed disengaged and unprofessional. She mumbled “okay na po” three times without even making eye contact. It felt dismissive and rude.

We had been planning to book another stay based on the quality of the room, but the lack of warmth, professionalism, and accountability from the front-facing staff made us reconsider.

Verdict: While Solaire North offers premium accommodations and superb housekeeping, the customer service experience at the concierge and reception needs serious work. In a five-star setting, it’s not just the room that matters — it's also how guests are treated. Unfortunately, until this improves, we’re likely to choose a different hotel for...

Checked in for the first time in Solaire North to celebrate mother's day and had the absolute worst experience for a 5-star hotel.

While facilities are top-notch since the hotel is new, Solaire really has the most ineffiecient systems. They are incapable of dealing with large crowds. Since it was mother's day, the hotel was fully booked during our stay.

We had 2 very unpleasant experiences which will guarantee us never coming back to this hotel:

1. 35-min waiting for the breakfast buffet (photo below) - not a dining experience you'd expect from any hotel, let alone a 5-star one. Felt like you were in line for a cheap buffet at a mall. Not sure what the issue was because the whole dining area was huge. Seems like they don't have proper systems in place to accommodate the large crowd

2. 40-min waiting time for the elevator upon checkout - 40 minutes is the minimum. Everyone was understandably irrate and guests had to strategize by either going up first, squeezing themselves in or riding the elevator in batches. Went ahead to line up for the check out and I asked one of the managers if there's anything they can do since my mom is still in line fore more than 30mins already and he just told me they can't do anything. Guests with babies and senior citizens had to endure that excruiciating experiencing because it was the only way. They had 6 elevators and they old us all of them are working but we've waiting for more than 30 mins and only saw 4 elevators working

Service is okay, at par with most hotels, but not enough to make up for all inconveniences caused by the lack of proper systems and processes.
