We were guests from berlin at the Magiel every evening from the 28.- 30. January.
We were absolutely stunned by the flair and ambience of the bar and place. The first night, we only drank a few cocktails and ate nothing. There was apparently live music playing, unfortunately not our kind of music, so we arrived at 22am and left 2 hours later. The barkeeper was great, not only did he do a wonderful job, but made a unique cocktail on request which wasn't on the menu. We really recommend the cinnamon Whiskey sour. He let us sit on the bar as long as the kitchen and staff cleaned up.
The second night, we decided to eat something. My husband ordered the stuffed chicken and I the "Duck Trio". I can only say: the food was phenomenal. Apparently I am not the only one calling this "Michelin Worthy". We drank and ate a lot, were good and uncomplicated, quiet costumers, not making a fuss and being nice and friendly. Unfortunately here comes our first negative point: the waitress (a black haired, thin woman) treated us very reserved and in an slightly rude way. Just her attitude in general. We couldn't drink up and needed to leave as soon as the clock turned 23am. Fair. When it came to the bill, we didn't have a Tip in dollars, only 100 dollar bills from the kontor. So we didn't gave a tip, but thought us: we will come again tomorrow and leave a generous amount that time!
We regret the 3rd evening tremendously. The waitress was the same woman, absolutely horrendous. She didn't leave one occasion without letting us know how unwelcomed we were. She made faces and threw arrogant and rude remarks at us asking for tyskie (is something not okay with that?), asking for mayonnaise, she even refused to give us the parmesan aubergine starter that was on the menu displayed in the hotel. She showed us without a doubt that she didnt want to serve us at all. 2 of the starters on the menu weren't available. She acted unnaturally annoyed at us. We felt so uncomfortable, we didn't understand why she was so mad at us. Then we understood: it was because of the Tip. When we left a tip that evening (even tho we didn't want to at first), she didn't even say thank you.
We will come again to the magiel, for sure, just because of the food and the cocktails. But we will also hope for an...
Read moreWORST restaurant experience ever 😑🤯
Me and my friend have been waiting 40 minutes for someone to take our order, NOT bringing it to us. It was Saturday evening and there was live music show. After we’ve been sitted by male server, he chose to serve tabel of 6 people who came after us. Female server after being reminded to take our order, managed to bring 4 orders to other tables and bring menu to few people who came after us.
Even though it has been Saturday evening kitchen managed to give dishes at time and their was no rush. Evidentially restaurant was under staffed for servers that night but its not an exuse for them to ignore 2 ladies who came to enjoy their evening at restaurant while staying at the Hotel Almond.
Well, after 40 minutes we left the restaurant thirsty, hungry and disappointed. If you are staying at the Hotel Almond, I would advise you to consider some restaurants at city center where service is...
Read moreStayed for 4 nights. Sat at the bar for afew drinks on 3 of those nights. Sampled some cocktails. 2 of the nights we were served by Kuba. (Bar tender). What a lovely young man. As we were sat at the bar, we had a number of conversations with him. We gave him some English chocolate and the following evening, he had brought us some Polish chocolate, which was a lovely gesture. He was always polite and was aware when our glasses were empty and offered us more drinks. He is only a young man who seems to work so hard. He is friendly and welcoming. ...
