We were served by Denisa, friendly, but professional, she was well trained and efficient. Top notch service that you could not fault. We had drinks while we took a good look at the menu. Just a Pepsi Max for me and a well-made Cuba Libre for my husband. For our starter we had Steak Tartare and spicy chicken wings. Both were excellent. The tartare was well made chopped, not blended, seasons well and served on crisp toasted bread. The dish was superbly balanced with capers and chopped sour cucumbers, rocket and a delightful mix of pea shoots and carrot provided a nice freshness that complimented the high quality Polish beef perfectly. The wings were spicy, but had depth of flavour. The heat did not overpower the sauce of tomato and onion that gave a fantastic meaty richness bringing through the chicken flavour that is so often lost in hot, spicy wings. Leaving a pleasant warmness that lingered just long enough! Our main course consisted of a huge Tomahawk Steak, a warm beetroot and feta salad, mixed salad, herb butter and steak fries. I must say that the quality of the Polish beef was absolutely first class. I was very impressed by the flavour and the butchery, matured perfectly. It was cooked to perfection! Clearly the chef's are not only skilled, but have a good understanding of flavours and the importance of balance on the palette. The beetroot was beautiful, the warmth bringing out the earthy, sweet flavours, the saltiness of the feta balancing it out nicely. The mixed salad was well dressed and a good mix of leaves and sweet cherry tomatoes. Sheer heaven on a plate. Unbelievably we polished off the lot and still felt like we had to try dessert! It did not disappoint! Only two dishes on the menu, Sernik and white chocolate mousse along with ice cream, so we ordered both, twice!! Well, there is no need whatsoever for any other desserts on their menu!! The sweet mousse delicately flavoured with white chocolate and a sprinkling of biscuit it was utterly divine. The sernik, creamy and delicious, the crumb served on the side instead of a base, was genius! Both came with fresh strawberries and blueberries that were sweet despite there still being snow on the ground outside! I'm ashamed to say that we had shunned Whiskey in the Jar on previous trips to Gdansk. We love our steak and cook at home regularly. We were worried that we might be disappointed if it wasn't as good as we have at home. The only disappointment was that we didn't come here sooner!! We will make it a necessary stop everytime we are in Gdansk in the future!! Thank you for an...
Read moreWe recently visited this restaurant, which is highly rated and praised by many. However, our experience was a bit different.
We had heard that getting a table here could be challenging, so we stopped by on Saturday to book a table for the following day. When we arrived, the staff mentioned that reservations weren’t necessary since Sundays are usually not busy. Still, we decided to book just in case.
The next day , when we arrived, the restaurant was clearly quite busy—contrary to what we were told. From this point on, we started to feel a bit overlooked. We were quickly shown to our reserved table, but that was about it.
Only a minute later, a waiter was already behind us, asking if we wanted to order drinks. We hadn’t even had time to take off our jackets yet. We politely asked for a bit more time. It then took quite a while before the waiter returned to take our drink orders.
When we finally got our drinks, the waiter came back to take our food order, but unfortunately, the dish I wanted (which I understood to be one of their signature items) was unavailable. There was no prior notice of this, which was disappointing. We asked for more time to reconsider our choices, and both of us noticed that the waiter seemed visibly irritated.
It took around 35 minutes before the waiter came back to take our order. After we had finished our meal—which, I must admit, tasted fantastic—we sat at the table for 30-40 minutes trying to get the waiter’s attention to pay the bill. It wasn’t until we stood up, put on our jackets, and started walking toward the exit that the waiter finally reacted. Of course, we paid, but this situation felt very awkward and unprofessional.
Conclusion: The food was excellent, and the ambiance was lovely. However, the poor service completely overshadowed the positives. For a restaurant in this price range, we both feel it was an embarrassing and...
Read moreIf the atmosphere and name alone wasn't enough to entice you, then absolutely everything else about this location will.
A brief description of the location is not nearly enough to cover the depth that this restaurant goes to exceed costumer expectations. You enter a double wide door behind a black curtain. You're introduced to a double-decker eating establishment that looks like a theatrical production. Everywhere you look this is something new to find: A Harley suspended in the air, a piranha tank, a tucked away basketball, and an infinite amount more.
I had the misfortune of not being here when they have live performances. I would imagine that they host incredible performances. What I can speak on is how absolutely incredible the staff was. Our waiter was clean, polite, and insightful. He made delicious recommendations and was present enough as to not be overbearing or completely absent.
The food was to die for. They offer a plethora of unique and interesting dishes to try. From a devilish, spicy burger to a burger served in a saucer of cheese. I had a steak served on a hot stone and I have zero complaints or gripes about it; It and all its accompaniments were well presented, perfectly cooked, and beyond tasty!
The prices were reasonable and well worth the entire experience of just dining there. Once you reach 6 people there is no separation of the bill with a small percentage in service fees added towards your total. However, I really think that the overall outcome for eating here justifies the expense.
This is a hot date night, a traveller's must see, and a casual meet-up spot that everyone needs to experience...
