We stayed here for four nights to celebrate my wife’s 30th birthday, and from the moment we arrived we felt very uncomfortable and even dirty just being there.||When we arrived, the two receptionists weren’t very friendly, and certainly didn’t come across as welcoming. As we arrived before the check in time they said the room wasn’t ready which we didn’t mind, but then she rang the cleaning lady and after a quick chat, started shouting down the phone before hanging up and telling us that our room was now ready which naturally enough we thought was odd, but we were delighted to get in earlier than planned. We thought we’d just drop the bags off and go for a stroll while we waited.||She gave us a key and pointed us up the stairs outside and that was it.||When we got to the room we noticed a big gap at the top of our door that from the inside, you could see through and out into the hallway which was mad. ||The first thing we did when we got into the room was look at the hotels advertised photos online, and compared them to the room we stood in. It was shockingly run down and not as advertised at all. ||We had to check the bed for bed bugs as the sheets barely covered the mattresses and all you could see was a nasty old moth balled mattress that when sat on, sounded like the springs had been working hard since it first opened over 100 years ago. Although we booked a double room, we had two single beds that both looked and smelled used and dirty.||The bath was all dirty and mouldy around the edges and taps. The bins had not been emptied from the previous guest. The soap and body wash was all watered down so we bought our own. We had to take toilet role from a pack left in the corridor as we didn’t have any. The bathroom door was broken so couldn’t close and opened up on it’s own. The fridge sounded like it was going to take off. The carpet was all worn down and even tattered and torn in parts. The noise of the floor when you walked or moved would wake the neighbours it was that loud. The bathroom had a small circular bath you could just sit up in but not lie down, and no shower curtain which meant if you wanted to have a shower you’d soak everywhere. ||Loads of the grout was missing from between the tiles on the bathroom floor so I wouldn’t be surprised if the water on the floor was going into the room below.||It was horrendous, and not what we expected at all.||The place needs a serious deep clean and a refurbishment as it’s filthy dirty and so outdated. It’s very clear that any money received here does not go towards keeping the place to a half decent standard at all.||Walking up the stairs to get to the rooms stank of mould or damp and never got better, and when you got to the floor you where staying on, it felt like you’d fall through the floor with all the creaking and cracking of the boards underneath.||We had damp patches on the ceiling above our bed and leak stains in a few spots also. The place was in bits and not a place I’d stay at again.||It’s in a great area, but that’s all it has going for it unfortunately. Super noisy inside and out and you can hear your neighbours constantly.||It’s not what the pictures show at all, and should be avoided absolutely.||Apparently Stalin stayed here at one point. From what we could tell, that’s the last time they done...
Read moreSituated just off the main market square this cannot be beaten for location! |We booked 2 rooms for 2 nights through booking.com and paid £220 total including breakfast for superior rooms with square view. |The rooms are accessed via a number of stairs - there are no lifts so this is not suitable for anyone with walking difficulties. |We arrived into krakow late, reception closes at 6 so it’s really important you let them know if you are going to be later. They were really helpful and put the keys in a lockbox and messaged me the code. |The building is very old and quirky and on the lower floor seems to be offices. You need the key fob to access the door which keeps it secure. |The superior rooms are 4 flights up. We were allocated rooms 23 and 26. Room 26 was a twin bedded room overlooking the main square. The room itself was adequate, the bathroom was great - fairly new with a big walk in shower and hairdryer. The beds weren’t very comfortable and the pillow was too high and firm. The room was double glazed to block out most of the noise from the square but the radiator was in full on arrival so we had to open the windows and turn it off to be able to sleep. The room had a safe, fridge, microwave, tv and plenty of glasses, cutlery and plates but no tea or coffee! |Breakfast was taken in a cafe directly under the rooms on the main square. The reception provided us vouchers which we collected each morning. It runs from 9-1 and you choose from English, polish, vegan, French breakfast or a egg and bacon roll. It also included juice or coffee. Additional drinks were around 9 zloty. |Check out is 11 and they will hold your luggage until reception closes at 6. |Not the most glamorous of places but for the location, price and breakfast this is definitely somewhere I...

This is not what you expect from this price range restaurant. food was eatable: too salty, not tasty service was simply bad. Waitresses were smiling and nice but, service was extremely long, and waitress forgot to serve us our dessert. decor has some french meditenareen feeling, but in a cave ... I personnaly didn't liked it.
Long story:
I went there for the chrismass dinner, different formula were costing btw 150 - 200 pln (without wine). We had to wait 30 min for apetizer, then 30 min btw each dish until the end of the meal, which was my longest meal ever. I even had to wait for paying ! I woke up they gave me my jacket, went to the bar to pay, then they told me to go back to my sit to wait until I could pay (bar was empty of customer).
The apetizer was the only good thing in the meal.
The starter was foie gras and apple crisp + delicatessen cooked with salt. Foie gras was overcooked, delicatessen was just pure salt, I think the chef didn't tasted this one. It was so salty I couldn't say if it was duck or beef.
Fish (Mullet and st Jaque) dish had it's element separatly cooked quite well, but didn't had any real harmony in tastes. (where was the safran in the rice ?)
Meat (Quail) was too salty again even with the puree.
Dessert was a mess, buche, minth jelo, cherry slush, and some really white Creme Anglaise, speak for itself.
Waitress forgot to bring cookies and cholocate that were in all the christmass menu, I had to ask for it. Wasn't bad in taste, but at the point I just wanted to go.
For the price, in france that would have been bad restaurant for a medium + price, but knowing what you can get in krakow for cheaper (like cyrano or encora), La fontaine is a...
