Tasty traditional food, cafe style.
We went in here for a meal in the afternoon after reading a couple of reviews and thought we'd give it a go.
The menu was full of traditional Polish home cooked food. I opted to have the tomato and noodles soup for starters, rice and beef stuffed cabbage for main, my partner had the crispy chicken. We also chose a self-service side salad, fried beetroot and some potatos. The soup was this a bit thin but tasted fresh and homely. The stuffed cabbage was good and a big portion, the crispy chicken was well cooked and stayed crispy. The sides were also fairly large but everything tasted fresh and full of flavour.
A bit confusing to start with as there was no indication of what to do. You have to choose your food, order at the counter. They give you a disc and it vibrates when your food is ready, you then collect it from the counter. After you've finished, you take your dishes and pop them behind the small curtain to the rear of the restaurant. The staff were really friendly too.
Although basic, this is reflected in the price. 84 zloty for one starter, two mains and three sides is very reasonable for such portions and traditional food.
Would definitely come back for a quick...
Read moreWe ate here on the 16th of November around 7pm. At the time, we thoroughly enjoyed our food, but later in the night, my husband developed quite aggressive food poisoning. He ate the daily special hunters stew. Which I did not consume. We shared all the other dishes we ordered, and I am fine.
I strongly believe the food poisoning was from this resturant purely because I ate the exact same meals as him over the previous 24 hours (as we often swap and share food). However, this was the only meal I didn't consume. It was unlikely that my husband got food poisoning from anywhere else we ate, and I not.
It appeared that some of the foods on offer are kept under a heat lamp in the front of the restaurant, which I am aware is not uncommon in poland, but in British standards the food shouldn't be kept under a heat lamp for more than 2 h and meat must reach at least 75 degrees before serving. If the resturant is reading this I highly encourage you to review hygiene and food safety practices as I believe your food has made him very poorly and has cost us our holiday which we worked very hard for.
Edit: My husband has been admitted to the hospital...
Read moreThis charming place with homely decor and cozy atmosphere is very warm and welcoming from outside . To hot inside as the staff wears short sleves❗️ Inconvenient Self service , you need to cary your full plates from the small bar to the table and is impossible to go up the tiny wooden staircase without spilling ! Basic food precooked and just warmed up , not a big variety and the translation of the menu in English are not 100% accurate with the actual meals . Overrated food overall and definitely not good presentation ‼️ We had chicken and mushroom sauce and it was actually simply boiled chicken drumsticks with the bone and béchamel sauce with few small pieces of mushroom . Not well cooked chicken and very sticky mush 🫤The Hunters stew was just a boiled sour cabbage with a lot of red paprika and very small pieces of smoke gammon definitely not a game meat .🫤 Soups are basic watery broth with very tiny chopped veg or bacon 🤨 The service is fast because everything is already made but the food is disappointment despite of the affordable prices. Close location to the main square and Christmas market easy to find and is on...
