At the Vienna House Easy by Wyndham, my friends and I stayed for three nights to attend a local convention. |Our stay was only relatively comfortable, and more serious issues arose on Sunday.|The room was nice, but the lack of a fridge in a three-star hotel is definitely felt. We could not cool our drinks, foods, or medicine.|While the room had air conditioning, it was poor and old. After a whole day, the room was slightly colder but not to the level we would expect.|As far as cleanliness is concerned, I would rate the hotel as a very ‘okay’. The room wasn’t exactly pristine when we entered. There was also quite a smell. We opened the window that afternoon, and it was gone from then on.|Our last day—Sunday—became a horror story. We woke up well-rested and praising the quality of the beds! As per the instructions of the staff during check-in, we were getting ready for a 1 p.m. check-out.|At around noon, we were disturbed by the housekeeping staff who opened the door and closed it again. We presumed it was an error, which is understandable.|Then followed a sudden phone call to our room to inform us that check-out was at 11 a.m. We checked the card provided to us with the keycards, but there was no time listed, and we distinctly remembered the staff telling us 1 p.m. as the checkout time.|I went to the reception to resolve this. The receptionist clearly did not believe us. We rushed to check-out, and when handing over the keycards, I pointed out the lack of a noted check-out time in the info-card provided.|We left our luggage in the storage room and left.|Once we returned, we were informed that the housekeeping staff discovered some kind of stain. The receptionist showed us a photo of a dirty pillowcase. To expect a pillowcase to be perfectly pristine after 4 days of stay with no cleaning done to the room is laughable.|The other photo showed a stain on the carpet. It was blue. We did not have with us any paint, coloring material, or pens, ink. When I showed this photo, I even offered to show the contents of our luggage to prove that we had no such items that could potentially cause such damage, but the receptionist refused. Instead, she told us that the card used during the check-in would be charged without my consent. I was quite explicit that I do not agree with any charge pertaining to damage not caused by me and my group.|Myself and the other two members of our group are part of the LGBTQ+ community, and this behavior, from the issues at check-out, the sudden stain, the strangely standoffish behavior of the receptionists, and more, makes me wonder if this did not play some kind of a role in the way we were treated.|I would not recommend this...
Read moreIt was our first time visiting Krakow and we'd heard mixed reports of the best location to stay. The main square is seen as the hub of the city, but friends who have visited have reported back it's quite noisy at night, often into the early hours. With this in mind we looked a little further outside of the main city centre and we were very pleased to spot this hotel.
The location is great, it's about a 3 - 5 minute walk to a selection of tram stops, letting you get into the city centre quickly and cheaply. There was also a fair number of car parking spaces, although I'm not sure how much they cost as we made our way around via the trams and buses.
The room itself was clean, comfortable and fairly spacious. The bathroom was a good size and again very clean. The colour of the carpet and floor wouldn't perhaps be to everyone's taste (lots of red, yellow and green going on), but the room was great value for money and the hotel itself was whisper quiet. We wondered if perhaps we were just getting up late and missing other tourists departing, but each and every day we only saw a few people in the corridors and dining room.
There were plenty of channels across a variety of languages on the flat screen TV and there's also free WiFi throughout the hotel.
We had breakfast included in our room rate, which while perfectly satisfactory, could perhaps do with more selection. There wasn't a wide range of choices, so it got a little repetitive, but did serve our purposes until lunch time. All the usual options were there, eggs, sausages, bread, cheese, cold meats, fruit and cereal but only one or two varieties of each. There was also the usual selection of tea, coffee and fruit juices.
All in all we thought the hotel offered great value for money and we wouldn't hesitate to stay here if we're ever visiting...
Read moreThis was my first ever holiday out the uk and chose Vienna house as it wasn’t directly in the square.. it was a 15 min walk which gave me time to look at all the lovely buildings on the .. the hotel staff were amazing .. Dominika was great.. she was so polite and friendly.. only with the hotel 2 weeks but you wouldn’t of known, so professional and made a fantastic cocktail.. the gentleman who booked me in was fantastic .. I forgot my charger and he offered to lend me his for a few days but wasn’t the right one but the fact he offered , also the other gentleman who started his shift the evening before I left was amazing .. I tried speaking polish via my translator which made him laugh and put me right :).. even taught me a couple of words .. being a solo traveller the room was perfect for me .. just wished I booked a room with a kettle that didn’t give me the option on the love holidays website .. the food was yummy only downside is I wished they had pierogi on the menu.. the back smoking area was so peaceful, a couple of the tables were wobbly so might be something to look into .. you wouldn’t know the hotel was next to a junction.. very little noise.. I also asked one of the receptionists about there currency conversion which I was told they didn’t do even tho it states it … overall it was fantastic and decided to go back better prepared and hopefully with some polish so just want to thank the hotel overall for a fantastic memorable stay .. thankyou so much...
