Blooms Hostel is in one of the main shopping streets in Poznań, close to the mall. It's probably a 7-minute walk to the Rynek, the historical market square. The hostel is a beautiful old building and if you're lucky enough, you get a room with a balcony. However, if you're in a shared room with a smoker, you might rather feel unlucky, because people at Blooms Hostel are allowed to smoke on the balconies. Unfortunately, not all smokers are mindful enough to shut the door behind them, so the smoke will come in. Our shared room smelled like cigarettes all the time because we had one smoker in there who was smoking during the day and even at night. Rooms are quite small and don't have enough plugs to charge your electronic devices. At least, there are lockers. Internet connection is good in the common room. In the bedrooms, however, it was so poor that you wouldn't be able to surf the web. I liked the atmosphere in the common room / kitchen when I was there. You sit there and work on your laptop, cook food and have a chat with other guests. There's a dish washer in the kitchen with a sign hung to it asking people to put their dirty dishes into the washer. Blooms Hostel obviously wants that sign to fall down to the floor every time someone opens the washer. When I fixed the sign for them, the overweight lady from the reception came and 'put it back in place'--without saying a word. That being said, the staff at Blooms Hostel was rather unfriendly; if there hadn't been so many other guests contributing the pleasant atmosphere in the common room, things might have looked different. An absolute disaster is the toilets and bathrooms. There's only three tiny showers and three toilets for ALL SHARED ROOMS. There's nothing in the showers to hang your towel and your clothes, so you'll have to try and squeeze everything on the door knob. Of course your stuff will fall down on the wet floor, every time someone presses the knob from the outside. You can imagine that showering at Blooms Hostel was always a hassle. It's a shame for a hostel to provide such poor sanitation for it's guests. All in all, Blooms Hostel is a good place to stay for one or two days. Any stay longer than that might quickly become a pain in the neck due to poor sanitation, poor internet connection in the bedrooms, and potential smokers in...
Read moreWish I had read reviews more extensively before I got here. This place is tragic. I’ve stayed in a lot of hostels over my years and NEVER felt unsafe in one until now. Left after one night when I’d booked for two - wish I hadn’t even stayed one. one of the people sleeping in my room seemed to have just rolled in off the street, as he had no luggage except a single beer, was clearly wasted, and far older than any other guest in my room. The door was left wide open or unlocked to my dorm constantly. As a female travelling alone knowing that my belongings and I are safe is really important, and this place couldn’t provide it. Reception didn’t ask me for any clarification of my room number or name when I buzzed to get in at 11pm, and you don’t even have to go past reception to get to the rooms. The rooms are dusty, stuffy, and dirty. I was sneezing constantly and the walls look mouldy. The wifi didn’t work on my floor so I could only access it from the common area. The bathrooms are even worse, covered in mould and rust, and one of them was out of order, Leaving one shower for the whole floor of people. Thankfully I had no intention of using it with the state it was in. The beds are noisy, old, and uncomfortable. The one saving Grace was that the sheets seemed clean. The common area constantly smells of cigarettes because the door to the smokers balcony is left open at all times. The wifi also wouldnt connect on my floor so I could only access it from the common room. Upon reading reviews of people being attacked or robbed here in the past, I wouldn’t even be surprised. The hostel part of this accomodation seems shady, and like there is no discernment of the type of guests they allow in. The staff are kind but seem young and totally Unequipped to deal with the weird clientele and customer issues. Please don’t put yourself through staying here. Especially if you’re a...
Read moreHostel is huge so the experience might vary. My room was EXTREMELY quiet but I guess on the other side of the building it might not be true so keep that in mind while reading my absolutely subjective review.
Good for a short stay, terrible for like +2 days. Reception works 24/7 which is kinda weird. If they gave people a code to the door, hire less people and invested in better beds, the world would be better.
Common area is small and comfy. Since the hostel is huge, keep in mind that sometimes you might not be able to cook for yourself. Besides, cooking is not very comfortable when the reception is basically by the oven.
The room was a joke. People are choosing hostels to stay flexible, to sleep during odd hours. That's why every hostel I've been in was designed to not bother other people. Here everything made a noise - floor, doors, beds.
You don't have any small lights by the bed. Mine didn't even have a socket avaiable. Beds are VERY noisy and I knew how the person above me had to be self conscious about every move.
Toilets are even bigger joke than rooms. Every shared room has a bathroom, there's none in the common area. You can hear EVERYTHING, every breath, every noise. So if you need to pee during the night, you can wake up the whole room. If you need to wake up early or come back late - if you're a human being, you feel guilty about it.
There are no bed curtains. Rooms and common area were properly heated.
Location is perfect. I saw people complaining about getting there but google maps is showing the exact, correct location so I don't know where the confusion comes from. If you're using public transportation, you should get to the Półwiejska stop but from the other side (Wrocławska) it ain't far...
