I haven't stayed at the hotel but only had lunch in the restaurant. The reason for giving five stars is that I had absolutely nothing to complain about. The food is delicious but after reading other reviews I have to say that this is not sophisticated Michelin star kitchen! The dishes are simple traditional polish and that simplicity is the key. I had a cod with spinach, mozzarella, grilled courgette served with rice. The portion size was good and the fish was baked to perfection. Honestly if you want a massive portions then go ahead and have all-you-can-eat Chinese buffet where you can also enjoy lots of flavours. I ordered a glass of Sauvignon Blanc with my meal and the wine was good, I would prefer it slightly colder but this was not a big deal. I haven't had a dessert but the coffee was strong and of a good quality. The hotel and restaurants are located in listed building in main city square and you can feel the history as soon as you step inside. The toilets maybe not modern but clean and the service is very friendly and polite, not intrusive but efficient. I will definitely go back for dinner and would highly recommend it to everyone who is looking for an...
Read moreWe stayed in the apartment in this hotel for 2 nights at £276. I have stayed in this apartment before 33 years ago when the hotel was called Dwor Wazow. About the only things that have changed in that time are the addition of the internet and "slightly" more modern TV. The room was really cold (colder than the corridor) and the heating did not function. When we asked for a heater or two we told there were none available we should use blankets! It was also very noisy, from building and maintenance works at odd hours to noisy cackling coming from the courtyard. To be fair I would say that the location of the hotel is great for the Old Town and Rynek and the Swor Polski restaurant has great food and drink and excellent service (but you can go there anyway). On the other hand breakfast was uninspiring and very limited with almost no expense "spent" or any attention to service. I had hoped it would have been a nostalgic return but the experience has made me recommend that you stay somewhere...
Read moreWe have stayed at Dwor Polski on four occasions now. Chosen originally because it was a Rough Guide recommendation, we have returned because of the factors behind our original decision. It is very convenient for the Rynek ( the hotel is just around the corner; and the restaurant actually opens on to the Rynek ) and it is comfortable. Perhaps a little old fashioned in style ( lots of brown furniture) it is nevertheless very comfortable and relaxing. A tip: go for a superior double rather than a standard - you get what is in essence a small suite with masses of space. The real stars of the hotel though are the staff - without exception they all put themselves out to cater for guests demands. Polite and friendly, they make you feel welcome. |Across the courtyard is a cafe/ bar , K2: we were fortunate to hear some good Polish music performed there.|The only drawback we encountered was the fact that the rooms were very hot - we had the windows open and the fan...
