TLDR: Prime location marred by noise, filth, and poor sleep. Look elsewhere. And a prefabricated completely useless response from management.
The Wyndham Wrocław Old Town boasts a prime location in the heart of one of Poland’s most picturesque cities, making it an attractive choice for tourists and business travelers alike. However, while the hotel delivers adequate service, modern rooms, and a decent breakfast buffet, several critical flaws—including filthy carpets, a persistent sewage smell in the lobby, and unbearable nighttime noise—severely detract from the experience. Most damningly, the hotel fails to provide a restful environment, opting for a laughably insufficient solution (earplugs) rather than addressing the root issue.
The good side: location, rooms, and adequate service. Unbeatable location. The hotel’s greatest asset is its location—steps away from Wrocław’s historic Market Square, restaurants, and cultural attractions. For travelers looking to explore the city on foot, it doesn’t get much better.
Spacious, modern rooms (with a major caveat). The rooms are ample in size, well-appointed with contemporary furnishings, and feature comfortable beds. However, this positive impression is immediately undermined by the revolting state of the carpets. Stained, worn, and emitting a subtle, musty odor, they suggest a lack of proper deep cleaning and detract significantly from the overall comfort. Cleanliness was never an issue in the past.
Adequate but unremarkable breakfast. The breakfast buffet offers a standard spread of cold cuts, pastries, eggs, and cereals—enough to fuel a day of sightseeing but falling short compared to other 4-star hotels in Wrocław. The selection lacks creativity, and the quality is merely passable.
The bad side: filth, foul odors, and sleep-destroying noise. Also disgusting, outdated carpets. The carpets in the rooms are a health hazard—visibly stained, grimy, and reeking of neglect. For a hotel under the Wyndham brand, this is unacceptable. Housekeeping may change sheets and towels, but the filth embedded in the flooring suggests a systemic cleaning failure.
Sewage stench in the lobby. Really. Throughout my stay, the lobby was plagued by a persistent sewage smell, indicating possible plumbing issues. For guests checking in, this was an immediate red flag—hardly the welcoming atmosphere expected from an international chain.
Unbearable nighttime noise, and an insulting "solution". The most egregious issue, however, is the constant revving of vehicles on the street below, making it impossible to sleep without interruption. While the hotel cannot control street noise, their only mitigation strategy—providing earplugs—is a slap in the face to guests. Earplugs are ineffective against the deep rumble of engines and loud exhausts.
No soundproofing upgrades have been implemented. No effort to relocate affected guests to quieter rooms or even advance notice of this problem anywhere. This is largely misleading by omission.
For a hotel of this caliber, the complete lack of a real solution is inexcusable. Instead of investing in meaningful noise reduction, Wyndham Wrocław Old Town treats guests’ comfort as an afterthought.
Bottomline: a health hazard with a fantastic address. While the location is unbeatable and the rooms are modern and spacious, the Wyndham Wrocław Old Town is let down by filthy conditions, foul odors, and a sleep-depriving environment. The noise issue alone makes it a poor choice for light sleepers or business travelers needing rest.
Recommendation? Only if you prioritize location over cleanliness and sleep—otherwise, choose a quieter, better-maintained hotel in Wrocław.
Addendum: I'm adding this in response to the hotel's generic reply to my initial review. It's truly disappointing to see a pre-written, seemingly automated response that completely misses the point of guest feedback. This boilerplate reply, is dismissive and signals a lack of genuine engagement. A templated response, does little to assure guests that any meaningful...

Read moreWe stayed at Wyndham Wrocław for a weekend, and while the location and breakfast were excellent, the overall experience was disappointing due to poor service and serious management issues.
Positives • Great location—right in the city center, so we didn’t need to use our car. • Quiet room—we had a 6th-floor room facing the courtyard, and despite reviews mentioning noise, we experienced none. • Delicious breakfast—a wide variety of sweet and savory dishes, constantly replenished.
Negatives
Spa Booking Issues & Overcrowding
We chose this hotel because of the spa and booked two sessions online for Friday evening and Saturday morning. The system confirmed our booking, but we never received a confirmation email. At check-in, we found out our reservations didn’t exist, so we had to rebook on the spot.
The spa was poorly managed. We were told only six guests could be inside at once, yet on Saturday, we arrived to find seven people already there. Reception admitted they overbooked it but refused to help. We tried to reschedule, but the spa was fully booked for the rest of the day. We requested a refund, but the receptionist only offered us a free beer as compensation and told us to talk to the manager at check-out.
Spa Facilities – Cramped and Poorly Designed
The spa itself was underwhelming. There was: • One hot tub (for four people)—impossible to use if multiple guests wanted in. • A Finnish sauna & steam room (each for six people). • Only two loungers, placed right next to the noisy hot tub, making relaxation impossible.
Additionally, our room didn’t have bathrobes, and staff told us they should have been there. We had to use towels, which was uncomfortable.
Heating Problems & Unhelpful Staff
On Saturday night, our room was freezing. We set the thermostat to 25°C, but only cold air came out. After complaining, a staff member came to check, adjusted the settings exactly as we had, and immediately left without waiting to see if it worked—which it didn’t.
I tried contacting reception via chat, but it connected me to an AI bot that was completely useless. After waiting another 30 minutes in the cold, I had to go to reception and demand a portable heater.
Room Condition & Cleanliness
The room was a strange mix of old and new furniture—worn-out wooden pieces combined with newer ones, making the design feel off. Worse, cleaning was neglected—a layer of dust was visible, and as mentioned, bathrobes were missing.
Elevator Failures & Staff Indifference
To make things worse, two out of three elevators broke down in the evening. Since we were on the 6th floor, we had to wait forever to use the only working elevator. The staff didn’t seem to care, despite all guests struggling with this issue.
Final Thoughts
At check-out, I once again requested a refund for the spa, but the manager refused, claiming it was run by a separate company—even though we paid directly at the hotel. I suggested deducting the spa cost from our parking fee, but the manager refused to even discuss it, never apologized, and clearly just wanted us gone.
We booked this hotel for its location and spa, but the spa was a disaster, the staff was unhelpful, and service was far below a 4-star standard. If I had known, I would have booked a different hotel and used an external spa. Not...
