*BE AWARE NOT TO SLEEP WITH COCKROACHES AND HUNDREDS OF ANTS *|| First of all I wanna say that staff members were so friendly and nice to all customers. However, the hygiene is terrifying level and the host reacts so horrible and aggressive for this issue.||At first night, I found some ants, one or two, at the en-suite bathroom in shared room of four beds. Since I am very sensitive to insects, I felt very uncomfortable for this stay but didn’t make complaint as there were just a few ants and I sprayed my own insecticide around my bed and luggage for preventing any possible damages therefrom.||On the next day, I saw another few ants around the other roommate’s bed when she checked out before I go out and witnessed few ants again in the bathroom after I returned the room around 7PM. Until that moment, there were only small numbers of ants that I saw, so I just thought of referring this issue lightly to staff while checking out.||However, things got changed that night. About 10pm, I returned to the room after having my time in shared kitchen, and there were a cleaning lady and two newcomers seemingly just checked in. They asked me if I saw ants in the room so I said that I saw few of them. The new girls checked in said that they slipped off the bed sheet right after checked in and encountered hundreds of ant below the sheet. So they called staff and the cleaning lady came for changing bedding and spraying insecticides. They also witnessed more ants lining up from the bathroom to their beds. As my bed is separated from theirs and I sprayed my insecticides at the very first moment, it might have prevented ants coming to mine. Anyway, since I also recognized that hundreds of ants, not a few, are witnessed alive in the same room, I started to think that staying the same room is not safe for hygiene, just like other two girls.||We talked about this issue and trying to ease each other by saying that bedding are new ones and insecticides will work. But, all of sudden, one of the new girls standing around their bed made scream, and we all witnessed a giant cockroach crawling on her leg. We pressed the cockroach with a slipper immediately and called staff again. After the staff member saw the dead cockroach, we all said that we cannot stay in the room this night so need another room for staying instead. He said he can’t make refund or arrange other stay and his boss can only make decision for the issue. ||As all of this happened late at night, we cannot help but calling the host late night, and he kept saying he cannot solve the problem since it’s too late so let’s talk about it tomorrow morning, without providing alternative stays. But that night was my last night in Albufeira and I was scheduled to take bus to other city at 10AM on the next day, so I request him to either provide alternative stay at other hotel or refund the fee for the night. He said he cannot either make refund or book other hotel instead, and tried to block my messages saying it’s late night and he’s with his family, so contacting him that late is rude. I responded that it happened late night so we have no choice but to contact you late night, and provided other alternative hotel room available that night costing about 160 euros for three persons, which is quite affordable solution considering the one-night stay at the hostel is 70 euro per person. He reacted aggressively repeating that NO REFUND AND NO ALTERNATIVE BOOKING and even threatened me saying “if you keep requesting, I will LET MY SECURITY STAFF TO REMOVE YOU FROM HOSTEL.”||From the moment, I concluded that he is not the person with sensible mind, so nothing gonna change by keeping conversation with him. As the stay in other hotel room available was sold after a while, I gave up to retrieving other place for stay and searched for how to report this issue to relevant authority. ||I hope others can avoid such horrible experience by considering my review. I will post the pic of cockroach and screenshot of conversation history with the host as an evidence. ||The host or some people might say it costs cheaper than hotel and classified as hostel, so customers cannot expect the experience at the level of hotel. However it is not about a quality of stay but about the basic hygiene factor. I have even stayed a way cheaper hostel costing about 30 euros per a night in southern France, sharing a room with 17 girls, but never experienced such hygiene issues at all. Read moreRoom and bathroom were dirty. The staff was so kind and nice (Thiago on the rooftop is a gentlemen and Micka the housekeeper is a wonderful woman). However the owner should learn to be more kind with travellers. He was quite rude. The rooftop is a nice place but I think it is not a good idea to put karaoke and bad music at all the time. In fact, despite it was a beautiful place no use that shared space to socialize each other. It was not an Hostel to meet other people, just a quite dirty place for teenager to sleep and then to have Albufeira nightlife. So if you are looking for an hostel to share experience with other hosts, forget about this place. Again, the owner should be more kind with his hosts

I am a backpacker since I was 18 years old. And I am just 36 and I love to have fun with other people. So please don't try to throw it into the mess.
If I pay 20-30 euro for a bed in a room of course I will expect that the cleaning of the rooms is not the best. But I payed 50 euro or more A STAIN OF BLOOD on the floor is not acceptable. And also all the room and bathroom should be cleaned as well.
I love to share space with other people. That's why I go ho hostel. I did not complain about anything. I just asked if it is possible to stay in a bed down. Given it was not possible I slept up without any problem. That's all.
I don't want to complain about music taste. I was just suggesting that you could create a more relaxing and chill out space without karaoke. This is just a suggestion.
Furthermore I was there just one week ago, and not two weeks ago.
And finally, as you are the owner, you should just not say people "do this in 20 minutes or I won't accept in my hostel". This is rude and is something that sound note acceptable.
So please visit the page one these two hostel Olive Hostel in Lagos and Casa da Magdalena in Faro. I left them a 5 stars review. You have a lot to lean from them.
Enjoy your life and try to be a little bit more humble. We are all learning in this life.
