Confeitaria Peixinho — Restaurant in Aveiro

Unfortunately… after long years being a frequent client and with good references about the “Confeitaria Peixinho”, this time the experience was absolutely disappointing. We bought a typical Christmas cake on the 24th to celebrate at home with the whole Family but the cake was totally dry and very hard… seemed as 2 days in the storeroom when it should be fresh and cooked at the same day.

After checking and telling the shop assistance about this occurrence, she said she would check with the manager and will get back to me but again her behavior was unacceptable as she did not get back to me with a resolution at all.

Unqualified position to such a reputable cake shop and showed unprofessional approach to the customers.

They have a joke reference in the webpage saying… “Don’t say to anyone else that this comes from Confeitaria Peixinho” and indeed I won’t as it is a shame.

They lost their credibility and for me is end.

This is an awareness / advise to everyone who thinks this is the best cake shop or for “Ovos...

What used to be a traditional bakery and sweets maker in Aveiro is now a completely overpriced shop that sells what look like factory-made ovos moles and raivas (the two traditional sweets of the city), selling them to tourists that have never tasted the real thing. Divine. We bought from both, the traditional shop next door and from Peixinho. This place is super pretty, reminded us of some fancy shops in Dubai. We thought 'maybe if they spent so much in appearance, maybe, they didn't have enough to invest in flavor and texture' we were WRONG my Portuguese husband, as demanding as he is with Portuguese flavors, could not believe his tongue 😂 and me neither, what an amazing experience, TOP texture and flavor, traditional STILL but the best of it's kind....
