We had an amazing time in Marias Guesthouse. The owner (Paulo) was very welcoming and made us feel right at home. The communication was easy, the room and communal area very clean and there was plenty of drinks you can buy from the kitchen. Water and tea are offered for free and you even get a complimentary shot of a local booze! |Buying the drinks is based on a ‘trust’ basis, you pay for it on check out. Outside there is a courtyard, where breakfast is served and where you can have a drink in the afternoon. We had the room ‘Rainha De Leonor’ which was simply stunning. Big bed with a free standing bath tub in the room, with a separate bathroom with a shower, toilet and sink. There is an open upstairs area, with a couch to relax. We slept like babies, the bed is great and it’s super quiet and dark in the room.|The location of the Guesthouse is perfect, very close to the castle and close to restaurants. Parking is 30 meters away and felt safe and secure.|The absolute highlight was the breakfast. It was simply perfect, with fresh fruit, bread, lots of variety in cheeses, meat and marmelade and nice eggs and a ciabatta. Maybe one of the best breakfasts I’ve ever had in a hotel / BnB. |Thank you Paula and Maria(s), we will recommend your accommodation to everyone who...
Read moreHow lucky we were to find this WONDERFUL oasis of a guesthouse when in desperate need. Kind and welcoming at 9pm at night we needed emergency accommodation for ourselves and 2 dogs after transport breakdown. Maria, & son Paulo, were the perfect hosts with the added joy of the beautiful and tranquil little courtyard and a gifted glass of port wine. The breakfast was the next amazing surprise from this gem of a place (we had not had time to read previous reviews about this spectacular morning spread). So much food, they had to add a second table! We are SO grateful to them both for making a potential disaster of a visit to Beja into a delight - we honestly thank you so much for your hospitality and we love your quirky,...
Read moreAn absolutely marvelous experience staying at Maria’s guesthouse! The house is very cozy, with a distinct character and lots of loving attention for small details that make it charming. It is a stone throw-away from the castle and all the rooms are air-conditioned. The owner Paolo is super friendly, flexible (accepting our check-in at 10 pm and treating us to a welcome drink), and helpful. Breakfast is scrumptious (and easily beats some of the big hotels)! We would absolutely love...
