.The room STINKS and so does the bathroom. Even though we arrived after the check-in time, the landlady was watching TV and said she will bring towels later (it took her a whole day to finish watching her series). We didn't dare to dry our hands let alone our faces with the towels because they also stank. The bathroom wasn't cleaned in years, Lord knows what lived there because the stench was revolting! We didn't even dare to use the bathtub because of the dirt. Good thing we weren't allergic to dust because the room was full of it. The room has a window with a blind which can be easily broken and your belongings might suddenly disappear. We decided to find another hotel also via Booking and had to stay one night in this hellhole. Now that was a challenge! Since the door closes when you slam it hard, we couldn't have a wink of sleep because we kept listening to other people closing their doors. The elevator shakes whenever it gets to the floor and the door also slams when it shuts. The carpet in the room had a revolting stain. You get a century old remote control along with your room key and the ancient TV stopped working after changing a couple of channels, so that was out of the picture too. The bed was broken and the sheets smelled of mold. The room also had an ancient A/C which of course didn't work. There was actual dirt and corrosion in the mirror above the sink which completed the already nasty picture of the whole place! The place is a decrepit pit...
Read moreIf you are staying at the budget end of the sliding scale, this hotel represents good value for money in my opinion. ||My single room had twin beds, fridge, full bathroom, TV, wifi and breakfast was included. The room was both quiet and dark so I slept like a log. Yes, there were a few things in my room which were a bit tatty however everything was more than functional and these didn't deter from my stay. ||The only negative in my experience was that when I arrived at mid-day, the receptionist/housekeeper was a bit grumpy by my early arrival. I only wanted to leave my luggage. ||The location is fantastic being right in the middle of the historic center. From here it's an easy walk to the bus station, the park and other points of interest. If wanting to visit places further afield such as Obidos or Alcobaca, Caldas da Rainha is a good place to base yourself as these are only a short...
