TRAUMATIZED! DISRESPECTED! Worst experience ever! Please bear in mind Portugese Element is the same as HAPPEN!NG. The owner is very clever at trying to escape negative reviews and seem to change the name and use other tricks to do so. The property with cold water, filthy, sticky all over, only looks good on the photos. Only two toilets for the whole guesthouse and one of them blocked with overflowing excrements (no note to warn the guests!) In the bathroom no hangers for towels so you can place it on the toilet seat if you wish. The fllor in the room looks like last time it was swept was late 90s. In the kitchen toilet roll instead of kitchen paper (which reminds you about traumatizing experience from seeing a blocked toilet). Also the lock in the room no 2 is broken (apparently I wasn't the first one to have issues with it). I went out to explore and got locked out of my room with no help/ assistance from anyone for an hour to get back in. Once the other guest helped me to get in and I informed the host the problem is 'temporarily' fixed, within seconds I got a response "oh great" (suddenly very responsive). When I said I wanted my money back for second night I got told I can cancel my booking with booking.com which I instantly did and then got told by the host I never get a refund. Since I cancelled I am unable to leave a review. On day two when I said I would not leave the room until I get a refund I was threatened that he would "put me out personally" or call the police and said " We don't want people like you in Portugal and get out from my property" I think that pretty much summarizes the stress I went through. I have been travelling through Portugal for 2 months and only experienced kindness and brilliant hosting but I have to say this experience puts a bit of a...
Read moreI stayed at Happen!ng Guesthouse for one night and left with mixed feelings. The biggest plus is definitely the location — it’s right in the center of Faro, within walking distance of the marina, old town, and both the train and bus stations. That part was ideal.||The building has potential: a nice rooftop terrace, a decent shared kitchen, and secure entry. There was no staff presence during my stay, which I actually didn’t mind at all.||Cleanliness, however, was hit or miss. My room was fine, but the shared bathrooms weren’t consistently clean. To be fair, when I arrived around 15:00, everything looked sparkling — but as more guests arrived, the common areas quickly got messy, and upkeep seemed lacking. Also, the walls are thin, so noise from other rooms or the corridor travels easily.||It’s a budget-friendly option and could be great with better maintenance and attention to shared spaces. If you prioritize location and affordability over comfort or consistency, it does the job — just manage your...
